New Year's Eve Film.
Hi everyone!
We're having a very quiet New Year's Eve after several busy days. On tap? This intriguing movie:
I like the book The Hobbit, but find the movies a little tiresome. So many battles that all seem the same. What an incredible imagination Tolkien was blessed with. Happy New Year! Enjoy your celebration.
I agree Lorrie that the battle scenes are quite long and hard to watch. That's the time in the movie where I sometimes "drift" and then come back when the battle is over.
Happy New Year to you and your family. A quiet celebration here but enjoyable all the same.
Hi Chy, happy new year to you! I am a huge fan of the Hobbit, and have read the book more times than I can count. I have enjoyed the films, especially the third, but I can only cope with it as an 'adaptation' of the way I imagine all the characters in my head! Nothing ever takes the place of the original book. Do you have Tolkeins ' 'Letters from Father Christmas'? It is a wonderful book; a collection of letters from Tolkein to his children, written as if from Father Christmas, and with his peerless illustrations. I read it every Christmas.i think you'd love it! X
Hi Penny. The film was quite good today and I do agree with your comment about adaptation. I've not read Letters from Father Christmas. Sounds like a fascinating read. Will have to look for it. Thanks for the great suggestion!
