Our Tree.

A few shots of our tree this year. More to come. But
I want to capture the sparkle and light. The soft heart
is new this year. We try to add an ornament each year,
if we can find one that speaks to us. This year: LOVE!

Vintage and Shiny.

My favorite decorations that never end
up on the tree! I found this old vintage
muffin tin at the Antique Mall and put
these pretty balls into it one year and
they've never left their safe place. Now
I bring it out every year with the idea that
I'll actually put them on the tree .... then
they stay in the tin. Vintage and shiny!

Do you have any decorations that don't
make it on to your Christmas Tree?

Precious Pretties.

The last few decorations went on our trees
over the last week. These are my favorite!

The vintage muffin tin is amazing. We
found it at the antique mall a few years
ago. Just perfect for these vintage balls
we also found there. I hung them on our
tiered dessert tray until we figured out
which tree to hang them on. They ended
up on the 2nd tree. Precious pretties we
are so happy to have found years ago.

Saying Goodbye.

Sometime over the weekend, we'll begin
to take down all the Winter decorations.

Time to say goodbye to the lovely light
the tree brings. We've loved our look
this holiday. It's time to start thinking
now about Spring and fresh decor for
Our Little Cottage in the Big Woods
as the warm sun stays longer each day.

New Skirt.

Not for me though! For our Christmas tree,
that we bought brand new last Christmas.

Somewhere along the line, we've misplaced
our light green velvet tree skirt. I have all our
decorations organized in bins, so can't figure
out where it went. Truth be told, it was way
too small. So I'm not upset that a new skirt
was added to our budget this month. I looked
online and didn't find anything. I put a white
tablecloth under the tree until we could shop.

We went to HomeSense yesterday and came home
with two possibilities. This one was just perfect in
size and color, with just a wee bit of sparkle. I took
the tags off and it became our new tree skirt for 2019.

What do you put under your tree?
Any new decorations for your house this year?

Unpacking Xmas.

We keep our vintage and the very special
decorations in my gramma's Hope Chest.

Sorting takes a long time as we decide
what colors to use for the season ahead.

Laying out all the Christmas balls for
the tree, in order of color, then size order.

Taking a break while we continue to mull
over our choices while we vision the tree.

Fall Mantel.

Finally had a few moments yesterday to dig up the
Fall decorations and start making our cottage cozy.

Sorry for the shadows. Still figuring out how to take
great pictures. But here is our Fall Mantel for 2019.

Still Festive.

Yes, you can see that we haven't yet put away
our decorations from the Christmas Season.

Personally, we love to let the Season last
just a bit longer. It's not over powering,
just a few items here and there. Like our
range hood, with our little Elf and a
sweet little Christmas glass van. And
the wreath is there all year long. It will
come down soon. When we're feeling
ready to put it all away. Soon, I promise!

Our First.

We found this tiny Cherished Teddies
the year we had our 10th Wedding
Anniversary. So technically it wasn't
our 1st Christmas together but there is
no year on it so we knew it would still
be a fit for us. We had never been able
to find a "1st" ornament that we truly
liked but this one fit us perfectly, even
down to the purple and green caps on
their little heads (our colors). Love!

Shiny Snowman.

A pretty shiny Snowman that we found
at the charity shop one day last year.

Homemade Joy.

I love homemade Christmas Tree
decorations. From a dear loved friend.

Shimmery Gold.

Gold seemed to be a big part of our
theme this year ~ naturally evolved.

Sparkly Green.

This one, when it moves in the breeze,
sparkles like crazy. Another favorite!

Brown Ball.

From a collection of green and brown.
It's just the right size for our little tree.

Snow Lady.

We bought this sweet little Snow Lady
a number of years ago. A favorite!

Silver Ball.

Though we have very little silver on
our tree, we couldn't pass this little gem
up when we found it at the Antique
Mall. Love the scrolls and the lid.

Gingerbread Man.

Continuing on my quest to show all
our decorations on the new tree. A
tiny gingerbread man given to me by
a client a few years ago. So sweet.

Pretty Ribbon.

I love ribbons on trees. Seems like
the perfect finishing touch. And easy!

Sparkly Heart.

The next ornament up .... this sparkly
heart with scrolls. Reminds us a lot
of our logo for our Centre and for
our grief programming. Meaningful.

Vintage Couple.

I wanted to capture the decorations
on our new Christmas Tree this year.
So many are vintage or have a story
that means something to us. Above
is a vintage glass couple that we were
gifted from my grandparents. I wish I
had asked then what year they bought
this ornament in. No one can tell me
now but I'm going to guess in the 30's
or the 40's. Very precious to us now.
