Night Storms.

I truly wish we could have storms during
the day. At night, it's so hard to navigate
the fears I carry from childhood when
the skies are dark and loud. Beyond scary!

Stormy Days.

Every day now it seems we're having
big storms. It's hot, there is still a bit
of smoke from the fires and then the
rains come, which is great but the big
storms are more than enough. We need
the rain but not the thunder! Stop please!

Summer Storms.

We have had just one, maybe two storms
this whole Summer. As someone who hides
when the lightening strikes and the thunder
rolls, I've been so grateful. But we may have
a big one tonight! We have a heat warning
all week and now storms are moving in. It
may be a very long night! Wish me luck!!
Hoping the weather forecast doesn't happen.

Stormy Nights.

We've had a number of stormy nights in a row. Daytime is beautiful with pure blue skies, no clouds, warm air but not too hot. And then later in the afternoon, the black clouds roll in and everything changes. The wind picks up, the trees bend and wave, we quickly put the covers on the deck furniture and move the potted plants in case hail falls from the sky. The lightening begins, the thunder rolls across the prairies and the rain falls in sheets, straight down but sometimes sideways. It clears after a few hours and then we sleep. Last night, we had to turn a few lights on, even though in the photo above it looks quite light out. My favorite room. A great place to be in a storm. Our "calm" room, we call it!

Today, we're graced with blue skies again. I haven't checked yet but will assume a storm will brew later and we'll go thru the motions of covering up and moving things around. Hoping August has rain but NO storms. I hate thunder and lightening. Love rain but nothing else that makes it scary.

Lounging in bed for now but getting up soon to do a bit of gardening, then showering, heading in to town for a meeting, then we'll head to our centre to pick up banners from the festival to drop off this week at various vendors and sponsors. Home to chill and get ready for our week. We went to "Hamilton" just over a week ago and dh discovered it on Disney Plus last night, so we were up late to watch it. Probably not a late night in our little cottage. Rest before all the busy!

Wishing you a beautiful, sun filled day.
Hopefully without big, scary storms!

Scary Storms.

The rain we've all hoped for has made
several appearances. Unfortunately, it
meant the return of the most unwelcome
Summer storms. Thunder, lightening
and high winds make for a few nights
of worry and waiting for calm. Ugh!

Thunder Storms.

After a beautiful weekend of warm sun and blue skies, we woke up to a very strong thunderstorm this morning. Rain, lightening (even a warning) and the loudest thunder that I've ever heard. We had storms thru the day, my first at hospice for the year. This picture is looking northwest and that dark cloud was very quickly over our building rain and swirling the clouds. We're under a warning tonight, and have sun, rain, lightening, thunder, wind and now it's calm but dark. Supposed to last thru the night and well in to tomorrow. I'm not sure what the purpose of thunder and lightening is but wish we could just have rain as needed, without all the drama! I got lots of work done, despite the noise.

Our cottage is pretty humid tonight. We'll likely turn the air conditioning on for a bit before we head to bed to cool everything down. Hoping it's not too loud thru the night. Our weekend was busy, so I'm feeling tired today. Fingers and toes crossed that the thunder gods let us sleep tonight!

Hope you had an amazing, quiet day today.
Namaste my dear blogging buddies!

Finally .... Rain!

After weeks of scorching heat and horrible, thick
smoke from the fires up North, it finally rained!

But instead of just rain, we've also been getting
lots of storms, with thunder, lightening and hail.

Warnings keep popping up. It's hard to plan when
the silly weather changes so very quickly each day.

Today, after I was done my work, I was excited to
get home to garden. We did a couple of hours and
then, bam, the thunder started and the black clouds
rolled in. We'll try and get more done tomorrow but
for now, the rain is falling and the Earth is green.
Something to be so very thankful for anyways!

Stormy Days.

We have had about 2 weeks of storms, almost every
day. High winds, dark skies, torrential rains and
varied temperatures. On Friday, our last day of our
kids' grief camp, a warning came out for tornados.
We didn't tell the kids but did put our emergency
plan in to place, just in case. Thankfully the storm
was bad but the tornados never appeared. This was
my drive home, just before the rains hit again. At
least our veggie patch is getting tons of fresh rain
water. Less watering for us to do each morning.

How is the weather in your area?
Lots of storms or cool and calm?

End of Day.

It seems to be a pattern now. A nice,
warm, sunny, often very hot, humid day,
followed by a scary stormy night. This
shot looks like I've captured a nicely blue
sky but that is actually a very, very dark
and very large dark cloud over the veggie
patch. Lightening, thunder and pouring
rain soon followed. At least it's giving
our patch the rain it needs to continue
to grow and I've had to do a lot less of
the actual watering. I welcome the rain.
Just wish the storms would stay away.

Early Storms.

Along with the budding of trees, we
have also have a few days of rain and
a couple of good storms. One last
week had me hiding under the covers
with my fingers in my ears. I don't ever
recall thunderstorms in May but it did
happen, right in the middle of the night.
Scared me and woke up dh, who tried
to humor me and finally gave up and
just put his hands over my ears. It was
a long and not restful night for sure.
No rain this week, which now we need
as there is a couple of fires brewing.
Fingers crossed that the winds stay low
and the rain will return to put them out.
It's a big worry now. Send blessings!

Summer Rain.

We've developed quite a pattern here
in our area. Each day, it's sunny and
deliciously warm (but not horribly,
unbearably hot) and then it changes.

The clouds begin to form, moving fast
and then the wind picks up. The thunder
rolls and the lightening strikes. Finally,
the rain begins to fall, gentle at first.

Then the downpour begins. These shots
are from the veranda and I took them on
Monday night. I'll have to download the
ones I took last night while in town. I'm
sure it was a mini tornado that went down
the street I was on. Crazy all around and
then the clouds drifted off and the sun
came out, like nothing had happened at
all. At least it's keeping our nights nice
and cool, great for sleeping and ever so
lovely for anything growing in gardens.
Not too many storms in the middle of the
night, which is when I truly hate to
listen to thunder and lightening!

How is the weather in your area this July?
Lots of warms days with storms or cool and calm?
