Oliver the Cat.

Oliver the cat is back! He settled in a couple of
years ago. We never see him in the Winter, just
through the rest of the seasons. We're not even
sure if Oliver is a he but we're thankful he's
chosen our cottage and our acreage as a great
place to hang out to catch mice. Thanks Oliver!

Oliver the Cat.

Oliver the Cat has certainly made himself
at home at the cottage. We love that he
does a lot of "hunting" of little creatures
and that he likes to hang out. Sweet kitty.

Introducing Oliver!

Somewhere along the line, in the last
bit, we seemed to have been adopted.

A sweet, well cared for but won't come
too close to us full grown pretty cat.

We don't know if he is male or female
but from the beginning, we chose male.

And recently, we decided to name him so
we can call him something instead of "cat."
We would like to formally introduce you
to "Oliver the cat" ~ a sweet little mouser.

He loves to lounge on our sunny back deck, on
the bench in the front in the Secret Garden, the
tiny deck at the potting shed and he has now
discovered the bench in the Memorial Garden.

Looks like he might be tracking either a mouse here
or a frog. We've only had an incident with mice the
first year we were here. A mouse or two got in to our
garage but we quickly got rid of it/them and since
then, our daughter puts out a bag of used litter from
her cats and changes them out each week. Since she
started this, we've had no mice in the 4 years since
we had the first incident. And now, we have Oliver!

Not Ready Yet.

Yesterday, a co~worker brought her new kittens
in to work. And look who landed in my lap!

A sweet little tabby, a purring girl who loved
to cuddle up with me for her little nap.

I've thought about having a cat as a mouser out
here in the woods. But we're not quite ready yet.

Our pup died two years ago, at the age of 16 and
we haven't gotten to the point of having a new one.

Maybe next year. It was was so tempting to
just scoop this little one up and bring her home.
But our garage is getting a make over soon and
until then, it wouldn't be fair to have this tiny
mite live in that chaos. I'd love her to pieces
but would also likely worry about her being
outside in the cold, and then I'd want to bring
her inside, which isn't our plan for a cat. Ah ....

Do you have a kitten or a cat?
Is it an indoor or outdoor pet?
