Au Natural.

I get asked ALL the time how I color
my hair. Would you believe this is my
completely natural hair color? I'm not
sure why it has become this but I love it!

New Chair.

The little desk in our guest room was
missing something ~ a lovely chair. I
remembered we had put one of the tall
chairs out in the garage for storage. It
ended up being the perfect fit and I do
love the extra green color mixed in now.

Yellow Cottage.

Such a sweet little cottage. This was actually a
color we considered for the exterior of our home.
In the end, we chose green, black and white, with
a bit of grey trim, and love the mix. I could see this
color being a contender the next time we do build!
What color is your cottage/house? Do you love it?

Pretty Pink Pot.

Two smaller vintage pots sit out on the
steps of our front veranda. Love all the
pretty pink blooms we have this year.
So much rain has created so much color!

Fall Colors.

A few pictures the other day from our little garden in the big woods. Lots of different colors at this time but the one that keeps shining through is of course the bit of yellow. Fall is on its way here in the country. I'm not wishing to let go of Summer but Fall is my very favorite season. Just hope it's nice and warm, colorful and long! Not crazy about Winter at all. Even though our cold months have been much warmer than in the past and our snow not as deep, it's still not the time of year that I look forward to. If we could have a long Summer and a long Fall, and a day or two of Winter, then lots of warm Spring, I'd be in Heaven. Can you imagine gardening most of the year? Well, maybe you can but here, it's a shorter season, so we take what we can and make the most of it. And long for the warmth and color of Spring, Summer and Fall! Truly always worth the wait in the end.

Lavender Bunny.

The tiny lavender bunny that started our
color scheme for our new home. Love it.

Colorful Peppers.

I'm a very visual person ~ part of being
an artist I guess. Our local store has some
great ways of displaying their goods. This
one is currently my favorite. Looks good.

My House in August #15: Green.

Our new green armchair for the
living room is my choice for the
prompt "Green" today. Love this
comfy chair and the look it provides.

My House in August #6: Color Pop.

Beautiful flowers that were so pretty in
the garden when they were in full bloom.
Slowly fading now but I hope to see them
again in the Spring, after a short winter.

Adding Color.

We picked up some colorful burgundy
potted Mums at the greenhouse when we
were in town the other day. We really didn't
need more color but we truly couldn't resist.

With our real and fake pumkins, the new
Fall Wreath and a few fall items, it's colorful.

We discovered our decorations for Fall
could be displayed everywhere with the
size of our veranda, even on the sweet
windowsills. Couldn't do this in town!

Love the colors all together. I'm hanging on
to the shades around us while it's still here.
Soon, oh too soon, our world will be white
and grey but today, we have color all over.

Colorful and Crisp.

Beautiful sunsets but frosty mornings.
Color everywhere and crisp night air.

Breathe September #27: Color.

I will never grow tired of these amazing
colors in the country in the Fall. Love ....

Colorful Treat.

 After waking up, showering, tidying
the house, then driving my dd to town,
I stopped at the grocery store to pick
up a couple of items. And these:

Tulips! They start out so expensive
but today, on sale as they were
clearing out the last bunches. I
bought these two for a tidy $2.50.

The first bunch is pink and the second
bunch is a sweet cream. All healthy.

Now to figure out where to place them ....

Ouch!

Settling into fall and winter means
lots of projects around the house.

One of my latest ventures includes
working on the old dollhouse. It was
time to paint the outside and I chose
a bright yellow color with a brown roof.

But the yellow was too bright, so
tonight I began to redo the paint
to tone it down a bit. This yellow
looks a bit too dark in the picture
but it's actually quite a bit lighter.
The roof color I love. Warm but solid.

Are you thinking about fall/winter projects yet?
What will you be working on for the upcoming seasons?

April 2015 Photo Challenge ~ Day Five.

Today, the Photo Challenge is to share my favorite color. As an artist, I love color! It's hard to truly choose just one so I have one pic that shows my color palette for the new house. The wall color we chose is called "Winter Gray" & we've teamed that up with an ivory color called "Camelot" & a green shade of sage called "Kittery Point". The last two colors are for our kitchen, great room, bathrooms & laundry room cabinets. I'm terrified to see what this will look like in the end. Hoping it all comes together. With warm wood floors, in my head, I think it will be fine. But oh the gamble we've taken! I hope in the end we don't hate our choices ....

What is your favorite color?

Revealing our Wall Color.

A quick post to reveal the top coat color we have
finally chosen for the walls in our new house.

Not the best picture but one that shows the white
trim, along with the color "Winter Gray." It is
a warm & light lavender. Beautiful with the trim
& we hope will look great with the wood floors.

What color are the walls in your home?

Change of Color.

Choosing our wall color has been quite a journey.
With a house full of vintage items, a background
in the arts & a visual, eclectic brain, the common
"builder's beige" was not even on our choice list.

Originally we chose a light butter yellow. But
after viewing it on the wall as our primer coat,
we knew it wasn't "our" color. So we went back
to our color palette. The one color that stood
out for us was "Winter Gray", a light lavender
shade that should go well with our antiques.

Can't wait to see this color splashed on the walls!

Fire Engine Red!

Quite pleased with my new camera. We used it quite a bit in the mountains and I'm so impressed with the colors. The ancient fire engine above was shot on a cloudy afternoon and untouched by editing.

What do you think of the Fire Engine Red?

Back Yard Garden.

It's raining outside, so I can't be in
my garden for now but thought I'd
share some pictures I took on
the last sunny day. Enjoy!

Chives starting to bloom.

Cherry Blossom & Ivy.

Our Hens & Chicks are tiny
but mighty!

Plants all lined up in their pots
or waiting to be planted.

Our first Bleeding Heart ~ I've
wanted one for years & finally
found this one at, would you
believe, Home Depot!

Phlox, Sage Meadow &
another one we've always
hoped to have: Hosta.

Love this little planter, bought
at the thrift shop for .25 cents ~ it
was a half price sale that day!
Our grandson thinks it looks like his
dog, Bo, who is a Boston.
We agree!

Clay pot flowers!

Our youngest dd made this
pot when she was 4.

Another thrift shop find.
This one was not on sale,
but at .50 cents, I was
happy to pay it.

All our pots are from the thrift store
or were gifts to us. Love this
basket for Easter that
we re~purposed now that
our children don't hunt for
eggs anymore.

Vintage basket someone gave
me holds these beautiful colors.

This planter was my mil's & we
were gifted it from my fil
after she died. She loved to
garden & often helped us in our
yard when the kids were small.

Baskets, clay pots & color!

My favorite little basket
with pretty pink flowers.

Found these last year at the end
of the season when the greenhouse
had their big sale. I paid $1
for both. Even the lady at the till
thought they were marked wrong
but the owner said it was the right
price so I grabbed them. The tag on
the bottom said $28.99 each.
Best deal ever!

Our strawberry pot, with little
berries starting to form. Can't
wait to try them soon!

Our raspberry patch, under the
bay window. This gets very
but has the best berries. We
have a plan to keep them a
bit more contained this year.
Yummy!

That's a snippet of our little
back yard garden so far.
We still have to plant some
Wildflower seeds, make two
raised beds to fill with
herbs & veggies, & create an
edged border around the
beds out of old bricks.
Summer projects that we'll
slowly work on as we can.

Enjoy your garden today!
