Beautiful June.

It's still early but our garden is starting to bloom. So
many new sights to see every day. It's become a little
highlight of my day to take a stroll through the secret
garden and marvel at the colors. Welcome beautiful June!

Spring Flowers.

Pretty Spring flowers that my dh brought home for
Mother's Day. Sweet smell and amazing colors. We
are trying to find the best spot to buy flowers with
the idea of having fresh ones every week. Love!

Spring Flowers.

Spring may be slow in arriving here.
But the nurseries all have flowers so
we can bring a bit of Spring inside. I
love these sweet lilies that were a gift!

Fall Garden.

It's only August and usually by now the
leaves on our trees in the forest are all
turning yellow, orange and red very fast.
So far, this year, we are still surrounded
by green. Not sure why but happy that
we have a bit more Summer around us.
My flowers are starting to fade though.
I'm sure they will stop growing very soon.

Favorite Pinks.

My favorite pink flowers in the moment.
Next to my roses of course! Soft and
vibrant, they move in the breeze with new
buds popping up each day. Love them!

October Flowers.

We are having the most amazing Fall. It is October
the 8th and our flowers are still blooming! This does
not happen often, so we're all embracing the sunshine,
the blue skies, the green grass and the flowers that
are brightening our World with color and scent. Truly
hope this lasts well in to November! If we're lucky,
maybe our Winter will be mild this year. After last
year's ice storms, I'm hoping we'll not have to battle
the weather again. It was a very stressful season and
we were ready to move somewhere else. But now all
that seems so far away. So we cherish it for as long
as it lasts. My Hydrangea's above are my very favorite.

Are you having an amazing Fall too?

Pink Blossoms.

Sweet and tiny pink blossoms for the cherry tree in front of our old house. I'll miss these each Spring but happy the new owners will enjoy. At the cottage, we have lavender (4 in total), a bleeding heart, a lilac bush that grows each year but no blooms just yet. a healthy hosta, 2 rose bushes in addition to many Wild Alberta Rose bushes all over the forest, a limelight hydrangea, some thyme, phlox, sedum and a whole lot of plants that I don't even know what they are. One day I'll have it all catalogued. For now, I just enjoy!

Today, the 2nd day in a 3 day long weekend, we woke up to pouring rain and strong winds. We did weed and work in the garden yesterday, so the rain was welcome to keep everything so green. And to give us a day off of landscaping. We slept in a bit, with the sound of rain hitting the roof. Then we headed in to the Big City to visit Ikea (2 new plant pots for my cuttings that have outgrown their glass bottles), new Country Living U.K. and Daphne's Diary from Indigo (our favorite book store), a visit to the Antique Mall to look for more plant pots (no pots but I found a vintage Holly Hobbie tea pot), a stop at the hardware store to buy paint and supplies for our preschool, and then finally, groceries to fill our pantry and fridge. Lunch, a nap and tonight we've been watching Hallmark Christmas Movies. It is July! And now "Christmas in Connecticut" has just started. Tomorrow promises to be a warm and sunny day. Hoping to get some cedar chips moved and would love to sit on the deck in the sun and do NOTHING! I'm not very good at sitting still but working on it. One day, I'm sure I'll perfect it!

The rest of the week looks like a very rainy. I don't mind rain during the week but always hope for at least one sunny day on the weekend. I'd like to get the decks re-stained this year. And get the final bits of landscaping done so we can just maintain it and then sit back and truly enjoy all the hard work we've put in to creating gardens, play zones and seating areas. We're getting closer and closer all the time.

Wishing you a beautiful Sunday tomorrow and if you're reading from the U.S., a fun, healthy and safe July 4th!

Early Blooms.

We were at Costco the other day and picked up a tray of these sweet annuals. I love the early blooms of white, pink and lavender. Trekked down to the potting shed and brought in a few pots to wash up. I won't plant these just yet as we can still get super chilly temps, like today. Traditionally in this region, the rule of thumb is to wait until after the May Long Weekend, which is May 21st to the 23rd. Usually by then, the threat of frost, heavy rain or super cold nights is gone and we can plant without worry. I truly wish we could live in a more temperate climate where gardening could be a year long experience. Or at least longer than a few months every year. But we are too engrained in our community here and it would be super difficult to leave. So we put up with the 4 Seasons we have and love, and dream about a longer growing season. One day, we'll grow our own early blooms instead of picking them up from the greenhouse or Costco.

Today was the first day back in person for our kid's grief program after 2 years of virtual classes. I was slightly nervous not knowing if everyone would show up, but they did and it turned out to be an amazing first session. Now I'm excited for next week. Such brave little souls, seeking comfort and education, healing and clarity. I facilitated the Parents Group and they were equally as amazing as the kids and the teens. A lot of pain was shared in our tiny space. Honored these mourning families chose our program.

Tonight we're working on our Festival (just 7 weeks away!), talking about an upcoming trip, and then settling in to chill for the rest of the night. Dh is bbqing in the moment, the girls are out shopping and little guy is at his dad's for the weekend. Tomorrow is Mother's Day and dh did spend time at our other house today doing some work in prep for another round of painting tomorrow. I did the bottom kitchen cabinets on Friday and some trim. Tomorrow, he's going to tackle the bedrooms and I'll finish the top kitchen cabinets and continue the trim work. We hope to be done this week so we can list and get it sold while the market is still crazy hot. Wish us luck! We're almost there. Can't wait!

Oh, wow, I mentioned Mother's Day and then went right in to painting. Our plan is to sleep in a bit but still get up at a decent time to shower, head to the house to paint, tidy up once we're done, then stop to visit my mom for a bit and shower her with gifts and love, head home to watch a race (not sure what but that's on the schedule), then we'll have dinner and settle in for the hockey game. I'll post a photo of our special dinner that I got to pick out today. Mmmm!

Wishing you a lovely evening!

Birthday Flowers.

My mom's birthday was on the weekend.
She's creeping along getting closer to 80.
So thankful she's healthy but wish her
mind was still all intact. So many more
stories and true wisdom to share that she
now has so much difficulty in providing.

Happy Birthday to the sweetest mama!
The flowers were a gift from my auntie.
So loved, so missed by those who can't
visit. I miss her funny jokes and her laugh.

Floral Inspiration.

I have a wooden basket pretty much identical
to this one. Even has a little metal plate on the
front declaring"flower market" and I just did
a lovely paint job on it. I've decided these pics
are the inspiration I need to style the basket
for our cottage. Love the look and the colors.

Books with Flowers.

I stole this amazing image from Victoria
Magazine. I'd love to style my bookcases
like this, with a section for each color
in the rainbow. Wouldn't this be sweet?

Head of Flowers.

Our growing season is now over and
the blooms have all gone to sleep. But
I hope to find a planter like this next
Spring when we get to plant flowers.

Isn't it amazing?

Tie~Dyed Roses.

My flowers from our anniversary are
now 5 days old and still looking very
healthy and full. I'm so intrigued by
the roses which look like they've been
tie~dyed. I'm going to dry them when
they are almost at the end. So pretty!
