Goodbye to April.

It's been a lovely month but I'm behind on my
blogging with our new journey fast approaching.
I hope to get back on track in May so I have 100
posts before the end. For now, a short and sweet
month, with many activities, snow, sleet, rain,
wind and lots of snow to make it all better. Now
we hope for rain in May to keep forest fires away
this year. I'm looking forward to a month of some
reflection and new dreams, ideas, energy and time
for creating this new journey we're embarking on!

Wishing you a beautiful month ahead.

Welcome, April.

Welcome, April. I so, so, so long for Spring! We had such a mild Winter, with very little snow and absolutely NO blizzards in our region, though the southern part of our province has not had it so easy. So it's been a bit confusing to now be in the season of Spring, with snow that has been falling on and off thru the week. It's not super cold and it will melt. But it is an odd experience so far. I want to see blooms and buds on the trees, green stalks emerge from the dirt, and birds return to sing. For now, we wait for the snow to melt and the sun to return. I will truly appreciate Spring, once it finally arrives to warm our Earth. Soon!

Goodbye April.

A beautiful and very warm month. Not very much
rain, which is a worry. Goodbye to April of 2023!

Spring is Here!

We are in full Spring mode up here in the
northern part of Alberta. Bits of snow
remain in the shade of the forest but any
spots that have even a bit of sun on them
through the day have no snow at all. I'm
so excited to start to see little bits of green
emerge from the very frozen Earth. March
was a super busy month here but April is
a bit quieter. This week, I only work on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then
I'm off for 5 incredible days, all in a row.
A rarity lately! Planning is underway for
my time off. I hope to finish up a bit of
paperwork but then I want to chill and try
to get my energy and my confidence back.
It will take time but I'm on the mend now!

How was your March?
Are you excited about April?

Hello April.

Hello April. A month that for the
most part is full of sun, melting
snow, sprouting grass and pussy
willows that bloom. So excited!!

Goodbye April.

Goodbye April. You were a great month. Not
enough rain for May flowers but still lovely!

Hello, April.

I always love April. This is a month of hope, with the mud turning to dirt, the brown turning to green. For our family, March is a bit sad as we remember our son, as well as my dad. But April is a month of happiness. We have several birthdays to observe, including our eldest son on the 4th, and my mom and brother both on the 18th. Friends and extended family as well. I love to see what will sprout up in the gardens and spend quite a bit of time dreaming what our future flower beds and veggie patch will look like. Gardening here has definitely been a long, drawn out process, but we started literally with a blank slate. Every year, I feel better and am proud of what we've done that year. Can't wait for this year. Definitely have some creative but labor intensive plans. Going to be a great Summer.

For this first day of April, though we are on holidays this week, we were up pretty early, worked out, showered, dressed, bed made, then we were off to pick up an item in the Big City, that turned in to three, from a lovely lady who is moving to Australia. I show them in tomorrow's post. We then headed back to our little hamlet to do some banking, then to the store to buy groceries for Easter dinner. I'm deadly allergic to potatoes, so I've never tried scalloped potatoes but can eat sweet potatoes. Trying a Martha Stewart recipe for white cheddar potatoes and hoping I can substitute okay. After we got home, we had lunch and then I realized I wasn't feeling 100%. Not sick, just super tired. So while dh did some taping in the studio, I curled up on the couch to watch a show and ended up napping away a good part of the afternoon. Clearly, I needed some extra sleep! We had a lovely dinner of breakfast, then dh headed back to the studio after we cleaned the kitchen and I went out for a walk with our neighbors. Our garbage bins have to be walked down the lane to the main subdivision road because the County won't drive their big trucks down our private road to get our bins. Our other neighbors down the lane burn their garbage but we recycle and compost and have a black bin for things that have no other place to go. It was a lovely walk and nice to catch up. I love watching their littles grow, and two out of three are now on bikes and doing so well. We are so blessed to live down the lane and in the big woods. And to have close neighbors who have so much experience living in the country. We would have been stuck a few times without their expertise to help guide us. They are priceless to us! I hope we are equally helpful to them.

Tomorrow I hope to have more energy like I did at the start of the week. I usually have one day a week where my energy wanes, and typically it's Wednesday. But that didn't happen this week, so I guess today made up for having lots of energy yesterday! Before I go back to work on Tuesday, I'm hoping to get some more of our board and batten work done, some painting, our taxes dropped off at the accountant, my mom's paperwork completed, our seeds started for the veggie patch and lots of writing to finish up. I'm already feeling lighter from some of the other tasks I've already taken care of since being home this week. Such a relief to have a list to stay focused and then tick those items off. I've even tackled a few that weren't on the list but stuck in my head as "one day, I'm gonna tackle that" and here I'm am .... done and done! The best feeling ever.

Easter will be quiet again this year. So hard to believe it's our second celebration in lock down. We take each day at a time, have hope for this to end in time and truly wish those that don't believe it's "a thing" will adhere to the regulations so we can ALL get back to living. One day soon, we hope, we hope. Travel would be lovely again. Seeing our family and holding them in our arms. Going for dinner. No fear of talking with someone in person. These are the things I wish for. Maybe April will see this change and a return to a more freeing lifestyle again. For now, we are enjoying our extra time at home to be cozy all together, practicing true Hygge.

Wishing you a beautiful Good Friday
and a very Happy Easter this weekend.

Welcome April.

Welcome April. In our region, it definitely doesn't look like Spring. Very blizzardy yesterday and today we're hearing reports of icy roads and super cold temperatures, made even colder with the windchill. Happy we can just stay in and stay warm. I'm dreaming of putting the fireplace on once I'm done my workout and have had a warm shower. I've done 2 counselling sessions already today and it's only 9:30 a.m.! Shhhh! Don't tell my clients but I was tucked in a warm bed in my jammies .... I'm guessing they have been too. Truth be told, this is the first day I've allowed myself to rest a bit more. My next session is just before lunch so now I have time to treadmill and weight lift and shower. Then case notes and on to the next session. Part of this work load is finding a healthy balance between meeting my clients' needs and making sure I don't get overwhelmed at the same time. An unhealthy counsellor will not help anyone. Thankful for our warm cottage, a supportive family and opportunities to take breaks and work on art projects this week. It's working.

March came in like a lamb, with melting snow and warm air. So much promise with many sunny days and lots of Spring projects to dream about. But then the virus arrived in our country and by the end of the month, we were all locked down, the World came to a standstill and the snow arrived, again! March definitely went out like a lion. Hoping that April is kinder, that this snow finally leaves, the World becomes healthy again and active, and we start to see a green landscape again. Wishing you and your family a beautiful and healing April. Stay warm. Stay active. Stay well.

Hello April.

Hello April! Our landscape is brown, the trees
are just starting to get little buds, but there is
mud everywhere! I can't wait for the green to
appear, the buds to flower and the fragrant air.

Pink Sky.

Yesterday was a beautifully sunny day,
with a high temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.

T~shirt & barefeet weather!
I found shoots from plants growing.

But late in the day, a weather warning
was issued for rain then snow. This was
sunset last night, with the rain pouring
down. I'll share the snow pics tomorrow!

How was your first day of April?
