Creative Salads.

Another "gourmet salad" I created the
other day. So much can be added to a
salad and I'm having fun creating what
I can with what we have. So yummy!

Creative Bedmaking.

Dh and I have an ongoing battle with
making the bed each morning. It's now
become quite the feat to make sure we
outdo each other with our respective
"creative bedmaking" skills. Here is
dh's latest attempt: a tree with bears!

Creative Art.

We encourage and expect kids of this
age to be fully engaged in their art, but
in their own way, without instruction.
Only complete and personal freedom.

My "Mini" Studio.

One of the items we included in our wish list for this new house was space for a true Art Studio. Not the corner of a room but an authentic, dedicated, "get messy" room. We built it in but for the sake of the budget, we chose to not completely finish it at this time. Hopefully by spring we'll be able to continue the final pieces. For now, I've put my art projects on hold. But it's been driving me crazy so my dh helped me put together our "Mini Studio" this past week. And here it is:

What's this? A corner of a room?

Not ideal and not what we envisioned.

But for now, this view will have to do!

A spot not being used and an easy choice.

I love the airiness and lightness of this corner.

A place for my fabric, lace and embellishments.

A sweet, floral lamp that I bought from a lovely lady,
for the tidy sum of just $15. A bit Laura Ashley. Love it!

Pretty shelf for some favorite treasures.

Shells gathered from our most recent trek to our
little piece of Heaven ~ Salt Spring Island.

My tray of projects and pieces to work on. The tiny
framed print is an original oil painting.

I'm very excited to have a spot to create art, to reflect on life and in my pursuits. When the true Art Studio is all ready and I move my stuff down the hall, I think I'll really miss this temporary abode. I can see some great things happening in this sunny and quiet spot.

Do you have a spot in your home just for you?

Our Dollhouse Project.

Just after we moved into our new house, I was offered the opportunity to purchase a dollhouse kit to make a dollhouse from the ground up. We already have 2 other dollhouses that we'll be restoring, once our art studio is finished and we have the room to do some major reconstruction. I jumped at the chance to tackle this project, a challenging one, as I'm new to the dollhouse world as an adult. I had several dollhouses as child but none had to be built or restored. To start this from a kit was a challenge I was ready for and couldn't wait to start. The build part was frustrating at times, as all the pieces wouldn't always fit. I'd have to rework and rework, cutting and gluing. But in the end, it came together. The next step is to prime and get the dollhouse ready for all the trimwork, then time to decorate.

On this long weekend, full of rain and tons of
strong winds, dh captured me finishing up the trim.

All done, now on to the priming and painting.

The blue is lovely but too dark for my taste.

A view of the inside. So many rooms!

I didn't like that there were some gaps in the
corners, so I used drywall compound to fill them in.

The attic. This little spot should be fun to decorate.

Tomorrow's post will show the priming that we
finished up tonight, on this rainy and stormy day.

How was your long weekend Sunday?
Did you work on any projects this weekend?

Highly Creative People.

My family, friends & co workers often say they have a hard time figuring me out. I have me figured out! But that doesn`t help them! Today, someone on FB sent me this great article. After reading it, I posted, with the extremely high hopes all my lovey`s will finally get ME!!

It`s not easy being a highly creative person, especially in a world that expects conformity. I`m hoping this article will shed some light on how I & many others live on a daily basis. Read the article here if you have a highly creative person in your life or you just want to learn more about our unique personalities. We struggle daily but find ways to live with a highly creative brain that never stops, is always dreaming & at times is successful with the process.
