Hodge Podge ....

It's Wednesday and time to join in on the Hodge Podge link from Joyce's blog "From This Side of the Pond." Here are the questions for today:

1. Find a penny. Look at the date and tell us something about your life or what you were doing that year? I live in Canada and in 2013, the Royal Canadian Mint stopped making pennies. It's rare to find one now as they were taken out of circulation. I looked today but nope, none in the house.

2. Were you given an allowance as a child? Did you have to earn it in some way? Did you learn to save money when you were a child or is that something you figured out as an adult? Yes I recall being paid $10 per month for chores and I would save a good chunk of it. Ended up between my first job, babysitting money and the allowance I saved as a kid, plus dh's savings, buying our first house at the age of 20 ~ we were actually 19 years, 11 months old when we made our first real estate purchase. We're great savers but I had to teach dh how as he truthfully would spend all his paycheque as that was how he was raised. Took some time but he finally got it! Now he loves to save and it shows.

3. April 23rd is National Take A Chance Day .... what's a chance you need or want to take? To move forward on a few initiatives that are sitting because I'm worried about the outcomes. Need to just move boldly forward! Risky, but we only live once .... could create some heartache though.

4. What's some outdated slang you seem to use a little too often? I actually couldn't think of anything.

5. It's National Poetry month and I always like to make us work our brains a little .... Roses are red, Violets are blue .... I'm super short but I'm not super port!

6. Insert your own random thought here. Snow is on its way. We went from blue skies with sun all day and a high of 20 degrees C, to a huge drop in temperature, dark skies and strong winds. Ugh .... I just want a year without storms.

Hodgepodge Wednesday.

Joining in on Wednesday's Hodgepodge today, created by "From this Side of the Pond." Here are my responses:

1. The Hodgepodge lands on the last day of March .... in ten words or lest bid the month adieu. "In like a lamb. Out like a lamb." So happy we've had a warm and sunny month.

2. March 31st is National Tater Day .... your favorite way to have a potatoe? I made this one shorter from the original as I am deathly allergic to potatoes, so I have no opinion. Next!

3. Last time someone or something "rained on your parade." Explain. My baby loss support program website suddenly seems to not be accessible. Not sure if Wordpress is down or if we've been hacked. Rained on my parade? Yup! I was so on top of things and now this ....

4. Put all your eggs in one basket, get cracking, nest egg, bad egg, good egg, egg on, have egg on your face, or walk on eggshells. Choose a phrase from the list that applies to something in your life currently and tell us how or why. Nest egg is my word of choice. I love saving money for things we need, things we dream about and for emergencies, like Covid! It wasn't easy when we had a young family and there was always something we needed. But we still managed to ensure we saved each month, even if it was just a bit. So happy we did. Made life a bit easier to always have a "nest egg" to fall back on if needed.

5. If I visited your home, would I find a lot of baskets there? Something you like to keep in a basket? We have a few baskets here and there. One for the mail. One for things like bills that have been paid but need to be filed. One basket for letters ~ received and to be written. One for books to be read. One for work that needs to be done or needs to go back in to the office. One for groceries. One for gardening tools. And about four for laundry (whites, darks, to be washed, to be put away). I love baskets for all these uses.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Enjoying our beautiful sunny days again after a very short Winter storm on Monday. It's helping to make my Spring Break a nicer experience. Lots to do but my task list is already shorter.

Hope you'll join in on Hodgepodge Wednesday.

Wednesday Woes.

Today is rough and it's only just started! My cold is better but I woke up with a extremely sore throat. Just got rid of the other sore throat. How is this even possible?

Dh's cold is worse. No sign of letting up. I worry he won't be well for his trip next week. Sending healing thoughts!

Funds that are expected haven't arrived yet. This won't break the bank but the worry about why they haven't arrived is a bit concerning.

It was supposed to rain last night and didn't. We've woken up to cloudy skies. Please, please let it rain today! We need some rain to wash away all the brown and help the green emerge.

Meeting with my team today ~ heads are gonna roll! I have a list to share of things that need care and attention. Wish me luck!

Board Meeting tonight for our Festival ~ big conversations will happen. Hoping by the end of the evening, we are all set and my worry list will be diminished.

I prefer when life is balanced,
so here's the good in my world today ....

Other than our colds, we're healthy and working hard on getting back in to shape. Even with this nasty bug, I've personally managed to cut back my calories, treadmill every day and lift weights. A work in progress.

Dh is all ready for his trip with our daughter and grandson. Passport in hand, U.S. cash purchased, itinerary memorized and suitcase packed.

I have 2 counselling sessions today with clients but they are regulars and the conversations are light. Just what I need today. Yesterday was heavy with clients - all new, much to absorb.

Thankful for our beautiful cottage and the woods that surround it and amazing neighbors!

Thankful for 2 healthy grandkids who keep us laughing.

And thankful for our 4 big kids, who brighten our days and make us proud.

How is your Wednesday going?
