Sunny Days.

The island we are on receives the most sunshine

every year, the most days in Canada. Amazing!

I love the rain and it has rained while we've

been here but the sun is precious too. Warm

and bright, making trekking, hiking, driving

and shopping so much easier. Love, love!

The water is so clear. Cold but very

clear. Makes it easy to see many shells.

A number of shops here don't have a

"closed" sign. Instead, it says "shut."

Love this and how so laid back it is

a reflection on island life. Yup, shut!

Vintage Bookstore.

 

Another spot to visit this week was Black Sheep Books, a very vintage bookstore on the island. I love all the nooks and crannies full of books and interesting things to peek at. Over the years, we've bought a few books here. My favorites are the very old books that remind me of 84 Charing Cross Road. I forgot to ask if books can be ordered and sent to our home. Wouldn't that be neat to order a certain book, of a certain era, a first edition, to add to my little collection of antique books? We will stop in and ask if this is possible.

Fernwood Pier.

We took a trek out to the other side of the island the other day. Took about 10 minutes from where we are residing this week. We wanted to have lunch at the little cafe but it was super crowded and we were told they would need at least 20 minutes before they could even take our order. So we wandered down to the pier and took some great shots of the water, the beach and the memorial for the Sampson Family who have occupied this rock for decades. It was a bit too chilly to walk in the water but we did manage to find a few shells for my little collection. Once we hiked back up to the lane, there were more cars that had pulled in for lunch, so we decided to head back to town for groceries to have lunch back at the cottage. Much quieter there on a cool but sunny day. We'll head back this weekend hopefully for lunch.
