Sweet Surprise!

Is this not THE best gift a miniaturist
could receive, the day before Christmas?

Made by a grandfather for his now grown
adult granddaughter, it's in amazing shape.

She has no children and wanted it to go
to someone who would love to work on it!

I'm beyond thrilled to have this sweet
house to create with. A beautiful dream.

I've always dreamed of having a dollhouse
that opened from the front. And now it's here
and so amazing! There are windows in the
back and on the side as well. I can't wait to
start decorating and then furnishing it. But
first a name. Something British, I do believe.

Isn't she so very pretty?

Unexpected Inspiration.

We visited the Antique Mall in the Big
City today. It was quiet ~ a perfect time!

I have this dollhouse. Mine is still very
much a work in progress. I love the trim.

Wow! I could sell mine once it's all
complete. I've never really had a plan
for all my dollhouses, other than the
act of rescuing each and fixing them up!

This one was quite nicely done and has
given me some inspiration to continue.

I love how the trim and the back of the
house has been carefully considered.

Great finishes and the floors are amazing.
Hoping mine will turn out just as nice!

No furniture but a few pieces of porcelain
are included in the price. I'm sure it will sell.

If you're working on your own dollhouse in
the moment, where do you find your inspiration?
This was unexpected for me as it's not often we
find a dollhouse or miniatures at the Antique Mall.

Very Precious.

Tiny miniatures on my favorite shelf. I
found all of these via thrifting or they
were gifts from friends and families. All
are so very tiny and very precious to me.

New Miniatures.

For the last 8 years, we've ventured into the Big City to the Dollhouse Show each September. I save through the year so I can freely spend on items that are unique for the dollhouses I've been collecting. For 2020 and 2021, like the rest of the World, everything shut down and that meant the show was cancelled. It was so exciting when we found out the show would be back this year in person. The only downside to the date they chose was dh is on a roadshow tour and he had to miss the show for the first time ever. We always have so much fun going with our dd's and grandson. This year, my youngest dd and I went together, while dd and dgs were off to hockey for the day. We had a great time and spent all the funds I gathered. I love this show because pricing is decent, not expensive. I can get so many items for a frugal budget.

The first thing I came across was the tiny wooden house in the upper photos. It was $2 and I have several ideas for creating a tiny dollhouse. My favorite purchase of the day and the most expensive, was the bookcase in the last photo, painted black with books placed on the shelves. It was $10 and so worth the big price. I love it and can't wait to see where it will land. I have a few ideas ~ so many choices!

Our schedule over the next few weeks will be super crazy busy. But I do hope to have some time, once our events and deadlines have passed, to work on my dollhouses. Now with these new pieces, I've been inspired to get the work done.

Wishing you a beautiful weekend!

Vintage Truck.

For the longest time, I've wished for a
sweet little vintage truck for our cottage.

Truthfully, I'd love one in real life but
for now, this tiny copy will have to do.

I looked a lot before Christmas but wasn't
successful in my search. Then this one ....

.... popped up on Marketplace last year.
A solid piece, not the flimsy ones I could
have ordered from overseas. And in the
end, it was even a better price and local,
so no waiting for the postman to drop off.
Perfect! I can see it sitting by the dollhouse.

Winter Project.

We've started on a Winter Project for
those nights where we have no plans.

A sweet little box to turn in to a tiny
bakery ~ all in miniature of course.

It started out brown and white but
we've now painted the outside a
lovely shade of green, with white
and black trim, including the door.

Do you have any Winter Projects?
Are you a dollhouse collector?

The Final Shots.

Too many items to list so I'll just post
them here for you to peek through

Love the selection of books and the
sweet little apron from a local venfor.

The bunny was fun getting here home,
safe and sound. Now I have a a big job ahead.

A snowman that dh found and I truly
couldn't resist. Fills a spot in the corner.

Love that rake. Isn't it sweet. But wish
they had a more vintagy rustic one.

A home plaque and a sweet hat.
Hope you enjoyed some of the shots.

Children's Table Set.

Soon as I saw this little table and chair set,
I knew I wanted it and suddenly, it was mine!

Sharing my Stash.

The next few posts will showcase what
I bought at the recent Dollhouse Show.

Many Treasures.

Once again, my haul from the show was really
inspiring and now I can't wait to play ....

A Coveted Treasure.

Something I had hoped to find at last year's show
but it didn't appear and then here it was this year ....

A sweet 5 piece wicker set for the rooftop
deck on our current dollhouse project.

I love all the detail and can't wait to place
in the dollhouse once it's all finished up.

Amazing Art.

Another amazing creation from the
recent Dollhouse Show in our region.

Framed Art.

Another favorite for me. I love the
vintage frame and the details.

So Tiny.

I can't even imagine trying to work
on something this tiny. Brilliant!

Glass Room.

This one was a bit hard to shoot but
very detailed and so incredibly cute.

Ribboned Crate.

I voted for this one too. I can't even
describe all the details in this small space.

Pretty in Pink.

Pink will always hold a special place in
my heart, so of course this one called to me.

Boxed Room.

I just bought two kits that are rooms
similar to this one. Can't wait to start.

Framed Creation.

Another favorite for me. This is the kind
of style I know I will likely gravitate to.

Beehive Cottage.

The sweetest idea for an entry.
I voted for this one to win.
