Two Fireplaces.

It's fun to decorate wherever we can. This year, we
lit up both fireplaces with garland and twinkly lights.

New stockings were found (1/2 price!) but
they were too heavy to leave on the fireplace.

Our fireplace in the master bedroom. Such a
lovely soft glow to fall asleep to each night.

Our tiny tree that we found a few years ago
and love to decorate for our space, just for us!

Protected Mantels.

Our fireplace mantels are now out at the acreage.

And our lovely builder has used extra shelving to protect the mantels from the trades while they sit, ready for installation. Over the next week, the painting will be complete. The floors will start to be installed the week of April 6th. Then the mantels can go in as the end pieces need to sit on top of the wood floors. I've loved seeing each phase of the building process but this one is the most exciting. To see our choices be installed, to see the bits & pieces of wood & plaster become a home. I'm most excited to see the window seats, once they are done, the lockers in the mudroom, the desk under the stairs in the alcove in the great room & the island in the kitchen. Soon, very soon!

They're here!!

Our mantels, that is. They arrived today,
just as the snow started falling gently from
the sky. The delivery guys were so great,
even trying their best to set the boxes neatly
in our living room. I tipped them & then
eagerly started to unpack the wrapping so
we could gaze at the pieces that in a few
short weeks will be installed to create
two lovely & very different mantels, on
two different fireplaces, in two different
spaces in our home. We have a fireplace
in the house we are in now but it's a wood
burning unit & we haven't technically
used it in years. Now, with the switch of
a button, we'll be able to have a fire at
any time, during any season, when we wish.

Tomorrow we'll unwrap more of the
packing materials but for tonight, we are
content to go to sleep knowing these
special boxes arrived safely, all the way
from New York, across the border &
then they made the trek across our
vast country. One more trip from
our suburban home out to the forest!

How was your day?
Any new snow to report?
