Dream Flight.

We discovered when we were planning our trip that

our credit card gives us free entrance and free meals

at the Westjet and the Air Canada lounges. So once

we were checked in for the trip, we totally indulged!

This was such a bonus as I was personally so very

anxious about getting on a plane to fly over the sea.

Partly because of 9/11, but mostly because of my

vast and dangerous food allergies, making travel hard.

With extra epiPens and a bag full of Reactine, we set

off and found the lounge to be quite the experience.

There was a number of food items to choose from and

as we didn't know what the onboard food would be,

it was lovely to enjoy 2 bowls of warm chicken noodle

soup, fresh bread, fruit, veggies, spring rolls, cookies,

and ginger ale. Dh had some items I couldn't eat too.

There was several hours to kill and this worked well.

The lounge was comfortable, with big windows to see

planes arrive and take off, and soft jazzy music in the

background. We talked, took photos, relaxed and by

the time we were ready to board, the anxiety was gone.

about was having to walk out to he the "prop" plane

for the 1st leg of our trip. It was just dropping us off

in Calgary for our connecting flight but it still felt funny

to be on such a big trip yet we had to walk to the plane!

Once we were in Calgary, we took the tram to the gate

and a short time later, we were on our way, in the air!

The trip in total was late afternoon our time and we

landed in Paris, France around noon the next day.

We did lots before we left, making sure that life,

work and our home were all in order so we could

truly enjoy without any worries. It's always a lot of

work but worth it to ensure we can focus on the trip.

Overseas Dream.

We left Canada on Sunday, January 26th.

Though I have been to Europe, my lovey

has not, so this was a big dream come

true. We even had a sunny, warm day.

Never do we travel with a large suitcase

but this trip is both a long vacation for us

and a business trip for dh. We even hope

to add in a anniversary celebration as it

was a big one in the Summer but we've

had so much on the go, we didn't get to

truly celebrate. So what better way to do

this then take a trip to another country!

Life and Love.

This guy and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary today. I had to work in the morning but he drove to my hospice for lunch and we had a lovely meal at the Rebel Cafe. Kind of a chic spot, with an outdoor patio. With long, warm days and tons of sun, it was another great day to be outside. We drove back to our little hamlet and did some shopping and then headed home to relax. Great dinner, cards and gifts to open, and now we're all cozy in bed watching "Game of Thrones" in prep for the new series to start soon. That show never gets old! Anyway, our day was full of reflection and memories, and good wishes from our family, friends and co-workers. Tomorrow is a day off but full of appointments and tasks. Our air conditioner stopped working, so we have the repair guy coming in the morning. And doing my mom's banking in the afternoon, stopping at my other office to pick up bins of supplies we need for my event next weekend, and then stopping to get a quick dinner to take home. No plans tomorrow night yet. Saturday is a full work day for me while dh will be off at a remote radio broadcast to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of our radio station. I guess we can call this a bit of an Anniversary Weekend full of life and love.

Canada Day.

Today in our amazing country, we are all celebrating "Canada Day" and the festivities are happening across the nation. Here in our tiny hamlet, the day has begun with a big community breakfast, followed by family activities in the park until 11 pm, when the fireworks will go off to music. We have not only attended over the years, but we've also volunteered. However today, we're still recovering from our music festival (post to follow down the road) and we are heading in to the big city to see "Hamilton" tonight. So we'll miss the music and fun in the park but will celebrate in our own small ways here at home. I'm proud to be Canadian and feel privileged EVERY single day that I get to live in this beautiful country. It's not just the beauty that surrounds us though. It's also the compassion our country provides not just to our citizens but to the World. And the ability to give back to others in ways that are humble but meaningful. 

We let ourselves sleep in today and will soon head out to garden. With our trip to the U.S., Covid, selling our other house and then the festival (all in the last 3 weeks), we were not able to do as much gardening as we would have normally done. And the rain has been more than normal, so that didn't help. But today promises to be sunny and warm, so off we go. Once we've done as much as we can, it'll be time to shower and do some paperwork that we'd like to tackle, then dinner and we'll be off to see "Hamilton." Looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the music we listen to often. It's a long production, so hopefully we don't fall asleep.

I'm off to pot plants, dig holes to put blueberry and raspberry bushes in, weed the front gardens and move cedar chips from the pile to the beds. Before and after photos will be shared. Unless I feel the weed show is too embarrassing!

Canada Day.

Today, our sweet little country turned 153 years

old. But it wasn't quite the party we usually have.

We slept in, had a very lazy breakfast, then while

the rain poured down, I painted the dining room,

dh did his own purging, dgs had a goalie practice

and dd2 was busy doing whatever she does when

she has a day off! I had a shower, our daughters

surprised us with dinner and we watched a movie.

With Covid, all celebrations were cancelled and

moved to virtual parties, including the fireworks.

Except for out here in the country, where all our

neighbors are lighting up the sky in our subdivision.

A great day to celebrate.

Just not the norm!

Nurses Week.

We have a few nurses in our family but

our favorite one is our oldest daughter

who became a nurse in 2016. So proud

of her work and her dream. Bravo nurses!

Afters ....

On Tuesday, we took some time out after our

tech rehearsal to eat dinner with our crew.

It was hot and smoky from the fires, and

very noisy, as any big City will be but we

still had a great time laughing and eating

great food that left us full and fulfilled.

Canada Day.

 

We had a great Canada Day on July 1st. Started out with a meeting with our Board of Directors at the site you see in the picture above (taken later that night). Our Festival Board is hosting our first Music Festival next July and we wanted to view the space in action, set up for the crowds that day. It was a great morning and we ventured out to shop at the Farmer's Market, take in the parade and visit with our crew. It could potentially be a great site for our plans. 

Heading home, we decided to do some gardening and a "short time" in the garden ended up being a number of hours but we had fun and it's all starting to come together. We roasted a chicken with veggies, salad, buns and gravy for dinner. A relaxing evening and I even snuck in a little nap while everyone was watching a show. We didn't drive back in to town for the fireworks but we could hear them from our front veranda and it was a great show. Above is the fireworks in the BigCity down the road from us. They even light up the big bridge that crosses the river. 

I'm always been grateful for the opportunity to live in this vast but amazing country we call home. With the current political climate all around us, I have nothing but respect for our leaders, and gratefulness for the peace and opportunities in our country. My wish is that everyone living anywhere in the World could have this on a daily basis. Thank you Canada for being my home.

Happy July 4th to my American readers!!

November 20th.

November 20th was National

Day of the Child in Canada.

A day to recognize all the

children in our community.

 A chance to celebrate and

create awareness everywhere.

A day I got to share with the

preschoolers in our preschool.

Special Day.

We try and have Sunday Dinner in our dining room each

week and it's fun to set up the table for our "guests".

A few weeks ago, we celebrated our daughter's birthday

and a small milestone was reached on this special day.

Did you spot it? Yes, that is our grandson enjoying his

first wine glass, a tiny one and no wine was inside!

Roasted chicken, mashed taters, gravy and peas was her

request. And then the big ice cream cake came out. A

lovely day to celebrate our first born and to watch our

little guy feel like a grown up at our formal but fun table.

For Us Too ....

We all felt like we graduated with C as she

walked across the stage. From helping her

study to taking care of little B, in so many

ways, we all contributed. Today was for us too!

remembering for those who have lost

are, know that today, in the midst of love,

memories, grief and celebration, you were

Loving Mother Earth.

For those of who embrace conservation,

recycling and green living, today was

truly just another day. For the rest of the

world around us, it was the annual

Earth Day celebration. We love our

Mother Earth each and every day but

honor that there is day just for her. And

a day for the world to pay her homage.

What activities did you participate in?

Sunday Morning Baking.

Our younger son moved home on the weekend

with his family. Dh flew out to the coast to

help them out and we all met them once they

arrived in the big city. I spent part of that

morning baking in the kitchen, anxiously

waiting for the call that they were all safe and

sound. We celebrated with warm Carrot Raisin

Apple muffins and fresh butter. Yummy!
