Hello August ....

This year is flying by! I wish it would slow down
so I could catch up. Renovations on our new site
are taking all our time up, as well as all the behind
the scenes paperwork, meetings, decisions, and a
million different purchases to make. Love shopping
but this is way too much! My poor Mastercard! I
hope we'll be able to paint soon so we can get the
last bits done and move in. We start a new Summer
program today as a trial so we can figure out a few
things before we officially open. So much fun now
but lots of stress too. Looking forward to the long
weekend coming up to get some much needed rest.

How is your August going?

Welcome, April.

Welcome, April. I so, so, so long for Spring! We had such a mild Winter, with very little snow and absolutely NO blizzards in our region, though the southern part of our province has not had it so easy. So it's been a bit confusing to now be in the season of Spring, with snow that has been falling on and off thru the week. It's not super cold and it will melt. But it is an odd experience so far. I want to see blooms and buds on the trees, green stalks emerge from the dirt, and birds return to sing. For now, we wait for the snow to melt and the sun to return. I will truly appreciate Spring, once it finally arrives to warm our Earth. Soon!

Hello December.

November was a sweet month in a very
lovely year, so I'm a bit sad to realize
today in turning the calendar that we're
almost at the end of 2022. But as always,
December promises to be full of joy
and wonder, family, friends and cheer!

Are you excited for December?
Is it a favorite month in your life?

Hello November.

A beautiful month. A transition from Fall to Winter.
Colorful, until the first snowfall, which we had on
November 1st. A bit early but beautiful. It went
away quickly, then we left for our holidays on the
4th of November and it snowed a LOT while we
were away. We came home to snow on the ground
and on our roof, but it warmed up considerably so
we missed the freezing temps. Sunny and warm today!

What is November like in your region?

Hello December.

I'm a bit late writing the blog posts for December.
All I'll say is "it's been a week!" It was a week
full of great things (my birthday, our Christmas
Party, decorating, the rink) but also some sad and
hard things (letting my student go, our daughter's
pup died) ~ things I may write about in time. For
today, I'll post this sweet picture, and share how
excited I am for this season of light, joy and love.

Toasting August.

Today was worthy of a toast to welcome August. It's still too hot here, the smoke is a tiny bit better but the sky is very hazy, and my worry list is not longer, but still active. I have high hopes for August ~ a couple of birthdays to honor, our anniversary is this month, it's usually a bit cooler than July (we can only hope!), and towards the end of the month, we start to get ready for another year of classes beginning at the beginning of September. Some years, we go away for our anniversary but this year, we'll be home as we do have a trip all booked for our son's wedding in the Fall. After 2 full years with no travel, we are so excited to be jetting off for such a memorable occasion. It can't come fast enough.

On the 2nd day of this long weekend, we were woken up in the middle of the night with an unexpected power outage that silenced our house. The air conditioning was off but we run a fan on our system to keep the cool air circulating. It makes a slight hum that helps me sleep and when I woke up, I realized it was the silence that had jarred me awake. We ended up googling in the middle of the night to see how to get the system back up and running but had to wait until this morning to take it all apart and get it back in order. We knew if this didn't work, we'd have to call a heating company, so I'm very happy to share that we figured it out and tonight, the hum is present once again, and the house is nice and cool. We spent time tidying up and re~organizing our garage, which took several hours but so worth the effort. Then it was a quick trip down the lane to place our garbage bins for collection in the morning, along with our recycling. Our neighbor came down at the same time and we had a nice visit, even talking about the plans for the ice rink for this Winter. I can't imagine it ever being cold enough again to freeze a rink but know that we'll get there once again in a few short months. Once home, we tidied the cottage, finished the laundry, did a quick vacuum, showered and then it took us some time to make dinner together tonight. A new recipe to try and it was thankfully, a hit! We watched the last episode of Season 2 of "Succession" in preparation for the 3rd Season that will start sometime in the Fall. Crazy cliff hanger! It's going to be an early night after not sleeping well last night. Wish us luck that we won't have another outage! Enjoy your evening. Namaste to all.

Welcome June.

Welcome June! This month has many celebrations. Our younger son's birthday is on the 11th. Then Father's Day on the 20th. And Summer begins the next day. For the entire month, we celebrate Pride ~ an important time for our family and friends who have in the past struggled with their identity but now find support and honor in the community. June is also the end of the school year and our Spring programs. A time to take a bit of a break before we start new programming later in the Summer. Great month!

Do you have many things to celebrate in June?

Hello, December!!

Hello everyone!

December is here. The month of joy, love, family and yummy treats! And snow. We've had our share this week but the warm air is coming back and by early next week, we'll have melting snow on our hands. Hopefully not too much at once.

Wishing you a beautiful December!!
