Clothes for Carys.

A tiny package was dropped off at the
little cottage in the big woods for Carys.

Her hands weren't quite big enough to
open all the layers of plastic and paper.

But look what was inside .... a sweet
hat for on top of her curly hair, a pair
of runners, undies and a very soft, pink
sweater for our long Winter's nights. I
love all these items, though the shoes
were advertised as for Blythe dolls but
there is no way they will fit her feet. I
am not going to send them back but will
order another pair from a different seller.
I love the flowers on them but too big!

Dh's Surprise.

I managed to pull off the "party of the year"
for Dh's 60th. He had no idea as we did
it a week after his original birthday. While
I stayed home to do some "work", he did
meet up with dear friends at our little guys
hockey game. When they came home to
have dinner here, I had them go down to
the theatre room to set up a movie for later.
While they did that, all our guests arrived
and hid. I called dh and friends up for our
dinner and "SURPRISE!!" And he truly was!
The rest of the evening was full of laughter,
music, drinks, food, chatter and so many
new memories were created. The picture
above shows how relaxed it was to have
our friends and family over. The best kind
of party are those where guests gather on
the floor in the kitchen, or around the island,
or on the floor in front of the fire. I was so
happy that it all worked and  he loved it!

Have you ever put on a surprise party?
If you did, was it a big success?

Surprise Snow.

We woke up to pretty blue skies yesterday that lasted a good part of the day. There was a weather prediction, with a low probability of rain late in the day. But what took place was totally unexpected. We had a surprise snowstorm! The clouds moved in and they were black, like a rainstorm. Next there were some flakes, thunder, lightening, some areas received hail and then suddenly, the sky opened up and from about 4 until early this morning, the wind howled and the snow fell. You can see the progress in my pictures above. It was crazy that we were outside without coats in the morning and last night we were turning the furnace back on and making tea! We made the best of our Hygge day.

Today, we are working on the board and batten, I have some art to finish up and then we have a board meeting at 4. Our girls have driven in to town to feed the ducks at our preschool and should be home soon. This afternoon the warmth will begin to return and I'm sure by tomorrow our snow will be but a memory. I'm off to sand and paint.

Namaste my friends!

Snow Surprise.

We went to bed last night with mud all
around our landscape. Rain lightly fell.

But look what we woke up to this morning!
Yup, snow. It was almost all gone with our
very warm, sunny days. At some point
overnight though, winter came back ....

Waiting ....

.... still waiting. We moved in to our
just over 16 months ago. And from
the beginning, I knew what I wanted
this kitchen nook corner to look like.

But between packing and unpacking,
settling in, theater work, hospice work,
centre work, trying to landscape, and
spending time with our family ....

.... this little corner has sat and sat. No
life to it, just a spot for items to be.

This weekend, my beloved dh helped me
finally change this corner from nothing
to something. I'll do the reveal a little later
in the week. For now, you'll have to wait ....

Windows!!

Hi everyone!

Simple surprises make me the happiest. I love the thrill of not knowing something is going to happen, and then it does, and I'm giggly for days! Today was a great example and tonight, I'm still in awe. We went out to "visit" the house today and look what we found:

Windows peeking at us thru the trees!

In the front gables ....

.... and in the back ones too!

Inside the Art Studio.

Even inside our walk in closet!

Lots letting in light in the turret.

And creating light for B walking down the hall.

Not a window pic but my favorite one
of the day showcasing the arches.

Do you find wonder in the simplest things?
