Blogtober: Day 30.

A leftover shot from our lunch the other
day at the greenhouse. And we did enjoy!

Blogtober: Day 28.

A frosty day, with a late lunch at a local greenhouse
that has a sweet little cafe. Food is amazing and the
walk thru the site after is always fun. We needed a
break from the construction and this hit the spot!

First Lunch in LV.

Not long after we landed and headed to the
hotel, we searched for a cool place to eat lunch.

This restaurant was in the hotel and we enjoyed
the food. A few staff had already arrived but we
didn't find anyone until after we had our lunch.
Then the fun began, but first, yummy, great food!

Making My Own.

Dh was away last week and I had to
make my own dinner. And look at
what I created! So yummy and lots
left over for lunch the next day. Yum!

Special Lunch.

Dh took me out for lunch to Sherlock Holmes,
our local pub. It was amazing though my hunger
was diminished. The last few weeks have been
difficult, and I don't have the energy to share yet.
But so thankful for his love and compassion as
I navigate new things in our lives that are big ....

A grilled chicken breast with lettuce, pickles,
mayo, melted cheese, salad and sweet lemonade.

BBQ at Work.

We are so lucky to have amazing staff
at our hospice and our chef with his
team are high on the list. Especially
when they make all of us a fantastic
bbq lunch! I couldn't eat the meat of
course but loved the grilled corn on
the cob, the salads and the fresh baked
bun. So good and it was hard to eat my
dinner last night. We are well taken care
of and I love my work even more now!

Lunch Guests.

Last week, I was invited, along with two
other co~workers, to present to a group of
retired Social Workers at the University.
It was a great opportunity to spread more
awareness about our hospice and our
programs. And look at the feast for lunch!

Christmas Lunch.

We had an amazing Christmas Lunch
yesterday at my hospice for the staff.

I made my broccoli salad and there was
not much left at the end of the afternoon.

So easy and so yummy! I'll have the last
little bit today for lunch. And then it's
all gone for now. Might make more for
Christmas Dinner next week. Mmmm!

All Dressed Up.

Our team at the lunch. Missing our finance guy,
volunteer manager and one of my university students.

My braid for the day. I don't often do this but
when I do, I always forget to take a picture.

Amazing Meal.

The menu for our special lunch is not
always what I can eat with my allergies.

So the staff at this amazing Fairmont
Hotel make me a scrumptious meal.

Often a bit different than the other guests,
it is always delicious and no issues for me.

Loved dessert this year. A tiny fruit
tart with custard and a mint leaf. Yum!

Special Lunch.

Every September, the community~based
hospice I work for hosts a special luncheon.

It's purpose is to raise funds for our local
initiative and to for new awareness of
our programs and services. Everyone
dresses up beautifully, we gather for an
amazing lunch, with guest speakers who
share inspiring stories and sweet music
from local artists. This event will always
be a favorite in my heart and my soul.

Lunch Date.

Dh, dd and dgs came home safely from
Disneyland very late on Tuesday night.

Dh still had Wednesday off as did I so
we had a lazy morning, then drove in
to town to do a few errands. We treated
ourselves to lunch at a local restaurant.

For the small sum of $4 (that included the tip),
dh enjoyed a burger with fries and iced tea, and
I had a mac and cheese with bacon dish and
caesar salad with sparkling lemonade. So good.
But how was this just $4, including a nice tip? I
had a couple of great gift cards to use for this
particular spot. Three gift cards to be exact. This
lunch used up 1.5 cards, so we'll be able to have
lunch here another day. Just enough food to fill
us up without going over our calories for the day.

Lunch Treat.

I can't name the restaurant but we had
a treat for lunch one day ~ a maple
bacon chicken croissant sandwich with
a chocolate frosty and caesar salad.
We rarely eat out and often if we do,
it's just for special birthdays or for an
anniversary. Sometimes we'll spring for
a lunch and this one was a special treat.

Posh Event.

One of my contracts is working for
our local community based hospice.

Because we are community based, we
are not funded by our health care system.

So we have to find the funds each year
to keep our doors open for our families.

Each Fall, we host a luncheon that is
not just a fund raiser but a friend raiser.

A way to introduce new individuals to
the concept of palliative hospice care.

The posh hotel we have this event at each
year makes the most amazing meals.

Mine is often specialized because of my
vast food allergies. But oh so good!

Flowers from the silent auction. And below,
the violinist and pianist who serenaded us.

My lunch included ginger butternut squash soup, smoked chicken with a white alfredo sauce, beets, carrots and broccolini. I ate every last bit and every time I see the pictures above, I get super hungry! I must stop looking!! For our dessert, everyone else received Black Forest Cake but I'm allergic to cherries, so my dessert was a raspberry sorbet with lemon and lime. Heaven, pure Heaven to me! I love that each year, I have to submit to the chef a list of my allergies and every year he creates this amazing feast for me. And often, every one at my table will be often jealous that I get such am amazing dish. Theirs always looks good but I often notice that some don't finish the entire meal. I savor mine and cherish the thought that someone would take such time and care to ensure I have a meal that won't cause an Anaphylatic Reaction. I always ask to thank the chef personally and he always is so pleased that I love his food! A posh event that is so elegant, so well attended, so fiscally worth the work for us and for me, so delicious!

Lunch Date.

Dh surprised me last week and picked
me up from work to take me for a late
lunch before one of our performances.
We went to Olive Gardens. So yummy!

I knew I couldn't eat a full sized meal
so I chose the lunch special, which was
the bread sticks, the salad and a small
portion of the Fettuccine Alfredo. I was
so full that I couldn't even eat dinner
later that night. We had amazing service
and the food was perfect. Happy that
we didn't have to wait to be seated.
The last time we went, there was a 2
hour wait for a table but we hit just
the right time. After we were done,
the line up for a table had begun and
it was long. It's a very popular place
and we are thankful for this great day.

Afters ....

On Tuesday, we took some time out after our
tech rehearsal to eat dinner with our crew.

It was hot and smoky from the fires, and
very noisy, as any big City will be but we
still had a great time laughing and eating
great food that left us full and fulfilled.

Quiet Monday.

After a busy Sunday, it was nice to sleep
in on Monday morning. We hot tubbed ....

.... then decided to head in to town for a
late lunch instead of an early breakfast.

Found a sweet little cafe on the waterfront.
With roses in cups and cool drinks to sip.

Dh had a pate of lamb and herbs and fresh bread
and pickled veggies. He really liked it. I had a taste.

But mine was even better. Fresh, homemade pasta
with shrimp, crab and scallops and fresh dill in an
alfredo sauce and fresh cheese bread. So good! I
hope to have this again when we're here this week.

Holiday Lunch.

One of our favorite little restaurants on our little island.
They make the best Margarita's and home grown cider.

I love the stuffed crab and shrimp mushrooms baked
with three different cheeses and fresh bread. Just the
right amount to not be too filling. Dh had a vegan
dish and really like it as well. Scrumptiously healthy.
