Vaccine Report.

We were privileged to be able to book in to have our vaccines done on Friday and here's my little report. I felt fine all day, not nervous but hopeful. Slightly worried that I'd have a reaction but we took along my epiPens and the Pharmacist was amazing. She did mine first so I could be observed for a longer time and no reaction. That was a great relief. The shot itself was a tiny prick! No pain. Next was my daughter and then dh. All had similar reactions ~ no pain. We took a few photos to capture this moment we've all waited so long for over the last year. I thought I might cry but I think I was more relieved to be finally here and so much gratitude filled my mind and my heart. The team at the pharmacy was amazing and we are looking forward to going back in when it's time for the 2nd dose. We did have a short trip to another community but in our hamlet, the earliest available appointments weren't until mid May. We lucked out and grabbed these slots and it worked out well. On our way home, we stopped to celebrate with a DQ Blizzard. The first of the season and very well deserved.

The Pharmacist was very clear we would likely feel just fine the first day but by the next day, we would be cursing her name as our arms would be super sore. Dh and dd both had super sore arms. Mine was just a bit achy right on the site but no where else. However, we did do some work later when we got home outside and then yesterday we trekked in to town and bought lumber to create a deck for the shed we bought. Lots of moving and lifting. I do recall my Naturopath saying after the shots she gives me (4 month flu shots and B12's) to move my arm around a lot after the injections so that may have helped. Today, no ache. So we've passed the first hurdle and are hopeful the second injection will be fine as well. Once we finished up a few tasks, we settled in to relax for the night. I had bought the latest editions of "The English Garden" and "Bliss Victoria" to read the other day. It was hard not to peek but I wanted to have something to look forward to at the end of the day. Always fun to have something to work towards. A personal present.

All for now but will be back later today with my "Right Here.
Right Now" post. Namaste my blogging buddies!

Excited. Nervous.

Today is Vaccine Day. I'm both excited and nervous. I was very teary yesterday for a number of reasons and beyond exhausted. Everything and anything was setting me off, with big tears and by the end of the day, a puffy face. Dh was sweet and just let me cry in his arms. Late last night, I realized it was likely my apprehension about having the vaccine today. I'm not in favor of injecting chemicals in to my body and have always been "vaccine aware" and cautious. To be clear, I am NOT an "anti~vaxxer" just cautious and sensible. But this one is scary. I carry an epiPen (I actually have 4 in my possession) so the idea that a few people have experienced an allergic reaction is unnerving. But I'll be in the presence of medical personnel and will have all 4 of my epi's with me. I'm sure it will be just fine. Wish me luck today.

A corner of our kitchen nook. I love this sweet shelf we bought and then painted and stained when we were still in our other house. It sat in our studio for the first few years we were here. And then one day I realized I hadn't hung anything in this spot as we hadn't found something that fit well. Was up in the studio one afternoon and turned around to grab something, and I spotted this sitting in the corner, just waiting to be loved again. So down it came and within an hour, it was securely hung on the wall. I have fun changing out the "treasures" that grace the shelves. Love it.

Hope you have an amazing Friday.

Namaste my blogging buddies.

Supplementing.

Last month, we started Vitamin B12 shots
for my daughters and myself to increase
our daily energy. Each of us was depleted,
not an uncommon thing here in the North.
Dh "chickened out" of said shot but this
month, he jumped right in after we were
each amazed how much energy each of
us felt for an entire 28 days. Day 29, it
all went downhill and out came the shots
again. We'll see how well he does and if
it make a difference for him. He's a healthy
guy but busy and starting to feel the effects.

Our dear grandson has decided this is one
of his favorite days ~ he gets to put the tiny
bandaids on each of us. We really don't need
them as there is no blood to catch, but he insists.

Do you supplement your current
health with extra Vitamins?

Waiting Room Art.

Isn't it amazing? Our family doctor moved to a new building a couple of years ago and one of the design choices they made was to install this beautiful glass wall between the waiting room and the front desk. You can see the front desk from the entrance but when you are sitting off to the side in the waiting room, there is privacy for the staff and clients who are discussing personal information. You can see the light coming through and that is the huge picture window behind the front desk staff. Really very beautiful and it gives such a warm and cozy feeling in the room. I love staring at it anytime we are at the doctors, which on average is only once a year for our physicals and rarely but at times like this week when we were both ill. We never have to wait more than a few minutes but I do love that while we wait, we can either watch the tv that is on, or read a magazine, or gaze at this sweet art! So much better than staring at a plan wall or the front reception desk..

When we go to our naturopath, whom we see more frequently through the year, the office is quite eclectic, warm and colorful and of course, completely organic. I love having both our caregivers, whom have some similar views on health and some opposing as well but do great jobs of keeping us well and caring for us when we're not. A modern view and an ancient view that works well for our little eclectic family.

Does your doctor's office have art?
Do you have more than one caregiver?

Blech!

Hi everyone!

My naturopath visit this week resulted in a new supplement to try that I take several times during the day, with food, including one last dose at night, just before bed.

I tend to not eat in the evening, after dinner, so this is new to me to have to munch on something prior to going to bed. Here's what I'm eating tonight. A favorite treat for me!

Here's to a good sleep!

Let it Snow!!

Borrowed this wonderful graphic from Joy & Comfort. I love the snow falling so gently to the ground and the lit lamp post. Reminds  me of our backyard right now. So Christmacy, despite the cold!

Although we initially planned to stay in all day, we bravely ventured out in -32 degree Celcius weather to drop our daughter off at her preschool's bake sale. Then we headed over to Costco to pick up some groceries and a few extra's for the Annual Candle Light Memorial Service we have planned for our community for tomorrow night, for parents who have lost a child of any age. Costco was busy but not crazy and we had no wait at all at the check out. Headed over to Home Sense and bought my administrator a neat Christmas gift, then to Michael's to buy her a gift card from our Board of Directors. Final stop was Tim Horton's, where my lovey bought me a delicious and so warm Gingerbread White Hot Chocolate and a Raspberry Bloom Donut. Scrumptious!!

We trekked home and basked in the warmth of our cozy home, with our shopping done for the weekend and no where to go until later tomorrow night. Can't wait for the warmer weather to arrive on Monday!

How was your Saturday?
Were you snowed in?

Catch Up Post!

Good news: my husband's CT scan came back clear. Yes!! No mass. He is fine. We're excited!!

Waiting: for a call from my doctor. I've not been well myself. Ended up in an emergency clinic. Many tests were taken. Still feeling lousy a week later. Test results came in last night. She'll be calling me today. We know something's wrong, just a matter of the acceptable diagnosis or the "really don't want to go there" diagnosis or we have a mystery on our hands.

Thankful: for my health care team. I have a family doctor, a naturopathic doctor & a chiropractor. Love them all for different reasons. My favorite is my naturopathic doctor, who spends between 1 to 1.5 hours with me at each appointment. She encourages me to be very active in my own health care. She calls when I'm not well to check to see how I am. She sends me emails with info on treatments or the newest info for me to read. She's personable, easy to chat with, doesn't make me feel like what I'm dealing with is because I'm a woman & at a time in my life when my body is beginning to slow down a bit. She makes me feel good for who I am. Everyone should have a doctor like this!

Off: to paint our preschool so I can keep my mind busy while waiting for her call. Life may change today, or we might have a quick answer or we might have to go back to square one. Whatever it is, I'm grateful for my team, my family & my community for the support during this time.

Who is on your health care team?

Terrified!

My dh, my lovey, the guy I've been with since we were both 18, is off this afternoon for a CT scan of his head. He has something going on & they see a mass of some type. Thankful he got in so quickly. But terrified that something could be wrong.

It's going to be a very long day!
