Frozen Treats.

We let our pumpkins, uncarved and
unpainted to be left out for the deer
visit our cottage often. Since I took
this photo, they've devoured 2 of
the gourds, and the other 2 we did
move away from the brick pile for
easier access. A lovely treat for our
little friends in the woods. Yummy!

Door Prize!

Today we attended our local Chamber of
Commerce Breakfast as we do every
Thursday morning. Surprise! We won
one of the door prizes. Such a treat!

Valentine's Sweets.

Treating my staff has always been a
special thing for me to do. I'm sure I
get this from my mom who loved to
have treats in her office. Seeing them
smile when little gifts show up or a
special day is honored makes it so easy!

Opening Stockings.

My little stocking haul this year! A
Swiss white milk chocolate bar, a white
and brown milk chocolate bar with a tree
design, a Kinder Surprise, a bath bomb,
a chocolate bomb, hand cream, the tiniest
Angel and heart earrings, and Lifesavers.

Lifesavers in Christmas packs are no longer
available in our region, so my youngest dd
created some for us. Ingenious! We all had
such fun opening these up. Good memories!

Holiday Sweets.

We had a lot of fun baking then eating
the holiday sweets we created this year.
Just enough to fill us up but not too much
that we had to throw any away. Perfect!

Egg Gathering.

Dgs had fun trying to gather all the eggs
and other Easter treats that had been left
for him to find. He had a great time and
kept us laughing. I also set out our treats
on our dining room table for our family
dinner later in the day. Fun was had by all.

All Hallow's Eve.

Halloween has never been my
favorite holiday but I do enjoy
the time put in to decorating and
having kids in amazing costumes
come to our door for treats. I'm
hopeful that Halloween will still
continue this year, despite Covid.
We'll be ready if they venture out.

We bought new decorations this
year. Our grandson felt we really
needed to "step it up" and so we
did with new inflatables (pictures
to come ~ all on sale!) and some
little surprises we've got in store.

Are you getting ready for Halloween?
Do you hope it will still go ahead?

Puppy Treats.

We're taking care of Lola this Summer
while our youngest dd is off exploring.

Every night, just before bed, Lola gets
to have 2 little heart shaped turkey treats.
But we ran out so off to the store we went,
She was so excited when we got home!

Gathering Treats.

A few days after Christmas,
we had a true friend over.

We chose some yummy little nibblies
and some warm drinks to finish it off.

Quiches, cheese and crackers, mozza
sticks and tiny plates of sweet goodies.

We all had a great time and enjoyed
our light snacks. Friendship and food.

Valentine's Treats.

We stayed home on Valentine's Day ~ the weather changed our plans. Freezing rain and snow kept us home, safe and sound. Making the most of our cozy time together, I baked from scratch some cupcakes and tiny cakes for our at home celebration. A yummy night made better by treats, a warm fireplace and good company.

Spooky Fundraiser.

We recently hosted a fundraising event for
our theatre production set for next August.
It was a great night, with yummy treats (see
above), music, a authentic screening of the
Twilight Zone and a dance part way though.
We made money, but more importantly, we
raised awareness of our production and since
then, more donations and offers have come in.
Worth the planning, the meetings, the big
discussions and all the sweat equity that night.

Happy Haunting!

Welcome to our house, on Halloween night! It's rainy here today, a bit windy but definitely no snow. A nice change and hopefully it will mean we'll see more kids this year than we have the last few years. I'm so excited our little guy, B, can go out in just his costume without a heavy snowsuit and big boots. His first real Halloween where he understands the idea. He's so excited about trick or treating later!

I "borrowed" these shots from my blog post in 2011. But this is is exactly how our house will look tonight, except that our Scarecrow behind the chair is bigger, with a blue shirt and the pumpkin might have a different carving. We still need to do that but we only work this morning, then we're off for the rest of the day. Lots of time to set up the last few items and then carve our big pumpkin!

Spooky!

At dusk, we light our candles and
let the glow lead the kids to our front door.

Inside the house, kids have lots to look at!

Our little collection.

Sadly, Celti will not be at our door this year, wagging her tail at the little creatures who come to our house. We miss her every day but this is the one day that we'll truly be aching in our hearts, as we open our door to give out candy but our little Celti will not be hopping out on to the step to say "hello"!

Wishing you and your family a safe and
Happy Halloween!!
