Evening Glow.

Before my surgery, we did do some early
Christmas decorating while the weather
has been so good. We hung up wreaths
on our windows on the exterior. I am
now loving the glow from the evening
lights and the moonlight as well. Homey.

I love this lamp in our great room. It's a
perfect size for this table under the big
window. And it has it's own lovely glow
that lights our space with just enough hue.

Soft Light.

Evening sun coming in from the west
and softly lighting the guest bedroom.
One of my favorite spots in our little
cottage, especially when the sun hits it.

Finally Home.

The sun shining thru the window late
that is in the nook. These visual shots
truly make me feel like we're finally
home in our tiny cottage. Life is here!

Under the Light.

I captured this shot the other night when
we were watching a movie. I glanced at
the sofa table under our big window in
the great room and realized how happy
the tiny plants in this pot must feel. All
under the light on a very dark and cloudy
night. I imagine they felt like they were
still back in the greenhouse with lights
helping them grow and thrive. The tiny
micro plants can be finicky and I'm so
relieved these one seems to be doing well
in this spot. The light truly is helping.

Do you have a tiny garden inside your home?

Sun Shadows.

Early morning and the kitchen is filled with what
I call "sun shadows" ~ bits of sun that hit different
parts of the space, and move, as the warm sun moves
across the sky. A quiet house with light and love ....

The forest behind our cottage. Vibrant.

The forest in front of our cottage. Amazing.

Lamp and Light.

We found new lamps for our Master Bedroom last week. Actually not NEW but new to us. A lovely lady on Marketplace was selling both for $30. The bottom is ornate and I love the little hanging beads. The color is perfect and we have better light now when we crawl in to bed to read. Very happy with this purchase and thankful for someone who took great care of an item and then passes it along.

Walked past the upper balcony last night and had to take this shot of the late day sun hitting the window and the wall. Yesterday was quite gloomy but then just before sunset, the sun appeared! We were told it would rain all day today but we've woken up to pure blue skies so we'll see if that changes. Painting the board and batten on our lower level this morning then this afternoon we're heading in to the Big City to pick up a miniature kit (potting bench) and a mini weathervane from a fellow dollhouse maker. Then back to our little hamlet to go car shopping for a bit. Dh's lease on his vehicle is up at the end of the year so we want to start figuring out his next move. He leases because his payment is a 100% write off on his taxes due to the nature of his job. Gas is 100% as well as maintenance so it's a win win for us. He's looking at a more sporty model instead of an SUV. Should be fun to look! We'll narrow down our list so we're ready in December when we have to make a deal. No test driving though until we're vaccinated. Not risking our lives over a car. Busy day but good stuff. No other plans yet.

Wishing you a beautiful
sun filled day! Namaste.

Morning Light.

The sun hits our bedroom in so many cool ways each day. I love the shadows that are cast on the walls when we open the blinds up. Our room, like the rest of the house, is painted in a soft lavender. But with the sunlight, the color changes from wall to wall, from super light to dark. I wish I could capture that but it's a really neat effect. This morning, we noticed the chandelier that hangs over the bed made crystal lights on the wall in the first picture. In a short time, as the sun had moved, the second picture shows the height difference and the movement from right to left. But no crystals in this photo. Love seeing this, on sunny days!

Today we're off to skate again. We also have a partner's meeting with our co-founders of the radio station the five of us started last Summer. Then a board meeting for our music festival, which we truly hope we get to present this Summer in person again. If not, we'll do another virtual version, which turned out to be way less stressful, more cost effective and everyone loved it! We even had four times the number of people "attend" but we are all still hopeful for an in person event for 2021. That's our goal, if Covid will be under control then. A good goal to work towards.

Dinner in the dining room then while my family watches the hockey game, I'm going to putter around with either the miniature project I'm working on or tidy up the paperwork that seems to pile up daily. I have a nice filing system but need to get December and January stuff tucked away. Next week, I'll gather everything we need for our accountant and drop that off so we can get our tax stuff filed for the year. Not due until April 30th but I don't like leaving it until then.

I'm off to check to see how chilly it is outside. Hoping we can be outside a lot.Wishing you a wonderful day and hope you have sunny blue skies like we do here today! Namaste.

Office Art.

Our grief centre and office is almost
complete for paint, furnishings and art.

This piece was the starting point for the
colors we chose. Soft, light and calming.

Late Afternoon.

As much as I'm loving the sunshine in
the morning and the later sunset, I'm
also still loving the muted late afternoon
sun in the living and dining rooms. Cozy.

Cozy Pantry.

Our rainiest Summer ever will not stop!
It is making our evenings feel like Fall.

However, we love our cozy home and
this shot of our Butler's Pantry shows
just how little light we're having in the
early evening. Cozy, sweet and warm.

Morning Light.

Just a few weeks ago, it was dark when we'd wake
up in the early mornings on the days we'd be working.

But now the mornings are getting lighter and lighter.
I'm sure this week, I won't even have to turn the lamp on.

I always love how the sunrise finds ways to dance on all
our walls. Moving and changing as it filters thru the house.

Dining Room Glow.

Our dining room is fast becoming a
favorite spot for me. A room full of
good food, laughter and fine china. A
room that holds and creates new memories.

Island Scene.

Different perspective of the last few shots ....
the spicy chair candle, quilt in the laundry
room, the cabinet in the kitchen nook and
the tiny tree on the big island. All cast in
soft and glowing light. It's a warm and cozy
feeling when I'm sitting in the Great Room.

Fall Light.

I personally love Fall and the softer light is one of the many things on my "I love Fall" list. Lamps are on in the morning and then later in the day as the sun sets earlier and earlier each day. Sometimes, like this past week with all the mist and rain we endured, the lamps may be on throughout the day. On this particularly gloomy, rainy day, I was in the Art Studio and had both lamps on for the day as I worked on organizing the dollhouse stash. I wanted to make sure I wasn't buying any duplicates prior to attending the Dollhouse Show (big blog post coming up for that one). The light was dim, my eyes were struggling so on went the lamps. It immediately made the studio feel warm and cosy. I love these days where staying inside and working on projects makes me feel homey and cheery.

Early Morning.

The end of the day, with the sun streaming in through
all our windows, is a favorite time for me. But lately,
the early morning light has become a second favorite.
My dh captured this shot yesterday after he made up
our bed. I love the soft light, the quietness of the pic
and the warmth that is present. Our favorite room.

Do you love the evening light or the morning light?
Do you have a favorite room in your own home?

The August Break #1: Morning Light.

I hate to think about it but in just a
few short months, this is what our
morning light will look like. Not
very bright. Makes for a cozy sight.

Just for Fun ....

.... I decided it was time to shift my mind from
the negative back to the positive and looked
for something to amuse myself. I've been
mulling over my blog, truly trying to figure out
it's purpose and why I love having a blog. During
that process, I decided to look back to see which
post was the most viewed post during the 5 years
I've written my blog in the blog world! Here it is:

This sweet little lamp generated an astonishing 410
views. I usually average 40 to 60ish views a day.
Feeling a bit of an accomplishment for such a
tiny lamp creating such a big view count.
We still have our "tiny glow lamp" and it is
still turned on each night at dusk. Love it!!

Have you ever looked to see your most viewed post?
If so, please can you share it with us for fun?
