Rainy Start.

So excited to start our renovations last week but today, with all the rain, we had no choice but to cart, carry and wheelbarrow all the drywall outside to the dumpster bin. In the rain. We were soaked but we got it done! In between smashing down walls, coughing up drywall and taking apart a desk, we managed to bond with our students and celebrate our dd's birthday again with sparklers and donuts. It's been a great start to this process and I hope it continues as we all work hard to create our new family centre in our tiny hamlet, beside the Big City. Wish us luck ~ we'll need it!

New Pantry at the Old House.

We asked our contractor to make an 

old book nook into a true pantry. 

This is what he's come up with so far. 

I love it and can't wait to see it completed.

Light Changes.

Isn't this the ugliest chandelier? We were not

crazy about it when we lived in other house.

So we changed out the fixtures and wow, it's lovely

now. Best part? They were free!! You can never

beat free, especially if the item in question is in

perfect condition. Now our tenants will see well.

A Bit of Paint.

Always amazes me what a bit of paint can do.

This was our youngest daughters' bedroom.

Dark turning light. Can't wait for the end.

A nice patch job completed ~ much better!

Mini House Project.

Found this lovely but mini dollhouse at the thrift store, on sale for 1/2 price. Paying a hefty $1.25 for the entire structure, we chose it as a "pre-renovation" project before we completely tackle the big dollhouse we've been dismantling. This will give us a chance to try a few things out before we invest in and begin to recreate the big house. 

First step? 

We'll strip the trim off, then paint the inside white. The trim will all be repainted white as well and the front porch too. It took us quite a while to find roof tiles but we finally found the right size and thickness. Paint colors are chosen but flooring is still a discussion point. Fun!
