Stormy Days.

Every day now it seems we're having
big storms. It's hot, there is still a bit
of smoke from the fires and then the
rains come, which is great but the big
storms are more than enough. We need
the rain but not the thunder! Stop please!

Scary Storms.

The rain we've all hoped for has made
several appearances. Unfortunately, it
meant the return of the most unwelcome
Summer storms. Thunder, lightening
and high winds make for a few nights
of worry and waiting for calm. Ugh!

Thunder Storms.

After a beautiful weekend of warm sun and blue skies, we woke up to a very strong thunderstorm this morning. Rain, lightening (even a warning) and the loudest thunder that I've ever heard. We had storms thru the day, my first at hospice for the year. This picture is looking northwest and that dark cloud was very quickly over our building rain and swirling the clouds. We're under a warning tonight, and have sun, rain, lightening, thunder, wind and now it's calm but dark. Supposed to last thru the night and well in to tomorrow. I'm not sure what the purpose of thunder and lightening is but wish we could just have rain as needed, without all the drama! I got lots of work done, despite the noise.

Our cottage is pretty humid tonight. We'll likely turn the air conditioning on for a bit before we head to bed to cool everything down. Hoping it's not too loud thru the night. Our weekend was busy, so I'm feeling tired today. Fingers and toes crossed that the thunder gods let us sleep tonight!

Hope you had an amazing, quiet day today.
Namaste my dear blogging buddies!

Wind and Rain, Light and Dark.

Outside as the rain fell, we were safe
and dry, but the crack of thunder were
too loud for my comfort. At least it
wasn't a night time thunder storm.

Still we had to put on some lights as
the sky was so dark, it was hard to see.

Early Storms.

Along with the budding of trees, we
have also have a few days of rain and
a couple of good storms. One last
week had me hiding under the covers
with my fingers in my ears. I don't ever
recall thunderstorms in May but it did
happen, right in the middle of the night.
Scared me and woke up dh, who tried
to humor me and finally gave up and
just put his hands over my ears. It was
a long and not restful night for sure.
No rain this week, which now we need
as there is a couple of fires brewing.
Fingers crossed that the winds stay low
and the rain will return to put them out.
It's a big worry now. Send blessings!

Tornado Season.

It's 7:44 on Sunday evening and we are once
again under a Tornado Warning. Every July
we watch the skies and hope that the watches
and warnings never turn in to anything big.

Lots of close calls though like this picture
showing a touch down in the Big City next
to us. No damage as it just came down and
went right back up again. Still very scary.

The storm tonight interrupted our Game of
Thrones time, so we had to shut everything
down and come up to read while it pours rain
and thunders outside. The moisture is always
welcome but the noise and the extravagant light
shows can just go away. I'm really not a fan of this.

Do you get Tornadoes in your region?
How do you cope during the season?

Scary!

We woke up to our bed literally shaking this
morning. The thunder was so loud it truly
rattled us all. After several hours, the thunder
claps stopped and the rain cooled the air. And
just over 12 hours later, guess what's back!
With no end in sight, I guess we're about to
have a long and loud last night for August! If
this keeps up, it could be a very noisy fall ....

Summer Rain.

We've developed quite a pattern here
in our area. Each day, it's sunny and
deliciously warm (but not horribly,
unbearably hot) and then it changes.

The clouds begin to form, moving fast
and then the wind picks up. The thunder
rolls and the lightening strikes. Finally,
the rain begins to fall, gentle at first.

Then the downpour begins. These shots
are from the veranda and I took them on
Monday night. I'll have to download the
ones I took last night while in town. I'm
sure it was a mini tornado that went down
the street I was on. Crazy all around and
then the clouds drifted off and the sun
came out, like nothing had happened at
all. At least it's keeping our nights nice
and cool, great for sleeping and ever so
lovely for anything growing in gardens.
Not too many storms in the middle of the
night, which is when I truly hate to
listen to thunder and lightening!

How is the weather in your area this July?
Lots of warms days with storms or cool and calm?

Not a Fan.

It's another night of bright lightening,
followed by rolling thunder that builds
from a small rumble to huge crashes,
right over our house, it seems. I am most
definitely not a fan of these storms. When
we lived in town, the odd light show and
some accompanying noise wasn't too big
of a deal. But out in the country .... that
is a whole new adventure and one I don't
like to be part of. A trade off, for sure!

Our Bo.

Weeks of intense thunder storms and constant
rain have made our pup one nervous little
guy. He is always wanting to watch out the
windows now to see what's happening out in
the gardens. Rain everywhere, loud thunder,
big lightening and only bits of sun here and
there. I hope soon we'll have a reprieve so this
sweet pup can play outside with his boy.

Brewing Storm!

There is a storm brewing outside
our window. An advisory has
been issued for strong winds
topping 90 km an hour
and heavy, dreary rain.

There is even a chance of a
powerful thunderstorm. We did
see streaks of lightening on the
way home from the storm.

We usually don't get storms
like this until July, so it's a bit
early but it has been a weird year
for weather. With rain showers in
the winter and snow in the spring,
this kind of weather doesn't
truly surprise me anymore

For tonight, we'll batten down the
hatches and stay cozy. And hope that
the strong winds don't get worse. I
love our trees and don't wish to see
any fall down as some have in the
past. Fingers crossed!
