Welcoming Guests.

Our mirror at the front door, with a
candle and cute, festive decorations.

The scene we created on the old radio,
also at the front door, to welcome guests.
Some days, we come home, and the truck
has been turned upside down. Always one
of our daughters who plays around with
it and drives me crazy. All is well now!

Tiny Lamb.

Our front hall is always full of light.
A warm and welcoming place for guests.

We bought this sweet little lamb at our
local Antique Mall a few years ago. I
found her when I was purging recently.
Tucked away in a box, with a few other
forgotten treasures that now grace our
mantels and bookcases. But this tiny
lamb deserved a spot at the front door,
greeting visitors and standing guard!

Christmas Door.

Our front door. We hope it's enough
to welcome all who visit here.

Front Door Scene.

With just the twinkling lights of the
little tree in the living room, the small
lamp in the dining room and the two
lit trees outside the front door, this is
what our front entrance looks like in
the soft and comfy night. I love it so.

It's the little details ....

.... that we had hoped for & continue to marvel over as they are unwrapped. For example, we had no idea the door would also be framed in the black trim but look what we found on our trek out to the forest on the weekend.

Complete with this little detail that just, in our opinion, screams "character" & "vintage"!

I may have to sit on the front veranda & stare at the door & the trim, instead of the sunsets we know we'll get facing West. Just so pretty & sweet!

Do you have a favorite picture of your house?
Any details or character pieces you can share?

Remember the door we liked?

Hi everyone!

It's unfortunately not going to be the door for us, as much as we like it! It's more than $2,000 than we had hoped to spend. So our exhaustive search has started over again.

Sigh! I'm very sad but we don't want to blow our carefully crafted and intentional budget! We will, of course, love the new door we'll choose together and then eventually order.

We just need to find it!!

Agh, more decisions!!

Hi everyone!

One of the fun parts of building a new house is the chance to pick out all the things we want in our space. It's been exciting so far but the decisions can also be daunting. So many things to think of. If we choose an interior door, will it look good with the kitchen cabinets? Will the shade of wood floors we've chosen go well with the paint color? What if the windows we chose give too much light? Or not enough! Did we choose the correct weight of carpet? Can you see the mutin bars in the new windows well enough or are is the width of each too small? Wow! My head is totally spinning with too many ideas.

Here's our newest decision: we need to choose our front door. Because we're building a Victorian styled home, we want to keep to the style as much as possible. One of the designs we've looked at is similar to this true Victorian door above. Simple and colorful.

But we also love this Craftsman styled door above, even though our home is not a Craftsman one. Can't you just see a lovely, wispy, colorful wreath hanging from that front door? Solid but filled with character.

Which is your favorite? And why?
