Family Heirlooms.

My grandmother's on my mom's side
lace table cloth. I love it for Christmas.

Candles lit and teacups ready for tea
after a scrumptious meal made by dh.

The dining room hutch that matches the
table and chairs. This belonged to my
dad's parents, my other sweet gramma and
grampa. I feel family around us at dinner.

And in the corner, their hutch they got
when they were first married way back
in the early mid 30's. Honored to have it
in our dining room, holding special items.

Is your home filled with family heirlooms?

The Dining Room.

A few shots of our pretty dining room. We're still on
the hunt for the perfect curtains. For now, as we live
in the forest, no curtains are just fine. I think in time,
this room will be welcoming with curtains and a rug.

Do you have a formal dining room?
If you do, is it used often or sometimes?

Tufted Chairs.

Do you bookmark or collect photos
so you remember a look you'd like to
create? Our dining room chairs match
the table and hutch BUT they are old
and creaky, and we've been thinking
about replacing them in time. I'd love
something more comfy, like the tufted
chairs in the photo above. Not sure if
we have enough room for actual wing
back chairs in this space but even 6 of
the side chairs would be amazing. We
would probably linger at the table for
a bit longer. Right now, the cushioning
on the chairs is not comfy at all. Very
thin and wearing. What a dream this
would be to have new chairs. Hoping!

Fabric Flowers.

A vibrant purple fabric bouquet sitting
on our piano in the formal dining room.

Placed in a vintage bottle I found at the
charity shop one day, these fabric flowers
add some extra color to our celebration
dinner space. Bright and very cheerful!

Evening Dining Room.

Just before the light disappears from
the horizon, our dining room is soft.

A place we use for entertaining and for
long talks over wine and good food.

Dining Room Glow.

Our dining room is fast becoming a
favorite spot for me. A room full of
good food, laughter and fine china. A
room that holds and creates new memories.

My House in August #4: Dining.

I love our dining room. It's not quite
a finished room yet but still a favorite.

I love the peaceful calm and quiet it
alludes too. Before dinners of course.

A place of great food and infectious
laughter, teasing and good fun.

Festive Dining Room.

I'll have some close up shots later in my
holiday home tour for 2016. But wanted
to show how excited we are to share that
we've finally been able to hang up some
art. It's hard to see the detail but you may
notice the tiny prints hanging on either
side of the hutch. Painted in our colors of
cream, green, lavender and golds. So pretty.
