We grew Roses!

We planted 2 different rose bushes a couple of years
ago. At our other house, we had tried once to grow a
rose bush but had no success. I was told then by the
greenhouse that roses are not easy to grow and it takes
commitment. So it was a gamble to try again. And
the interesting thing is, we planted the bushes on the
same day, have provided some fertilizer and lots of
water but really haven't done anything different than
all of our plants. I'm loving that we've produced a
couple of roses each year BUT this year, we have
an over abundance of blooms. A warning: you may
see a few photos of roses over the next few weeks!

Do you have roses in your garden?
If so, have they been easy to grow?

I did it!!

I have always dreamed of having a
little rosebush. And now I have one!

But the best part is that it is sprouting
tiny rose blooms. I am beyond excited.

Before blooming and below, after. At
the moment, there are at least 10 buds.

So pretty and vibrant. We bought this
bush last Fall at the 70% off sale. And
it's been a gamble because of our very
cold climate here in the Winter. But
the hard work has paid off. And I'm
so in love now. Worth the long wait!

Our Roses ....

I am beyond excited to share that the
tiny rosebush we planted last year is back!

I wasn't sure but saw a few tiny leaf buds
the other day. And look at it today! We're
having a big storm at the moment, so the
rain is giving it a great soaking. Excited!

Tiny Roses.

I have a combination of both live and
fabric flowers around our little cottage.

One of my favorites is this bouquet of
pink fabric roses, with a light green bow.

I found these at our local charity shop
one day and quickly put them in my
basket ~ they remind me of several
bouquets of pink roses I've received.

Hardy Roses.

I'm saving to buy a sweet little rose bush for our
secret garden. Right now, they are not on sale ....

.... but once the sale does begin, I'll be first in line to
get my hands on these babies. Well worth the wait!

Inspiration.

After a very busy weekend, we decided
to treat ourselves with a greenhouse tour.

The pond is not looking healthy but
the rest of the landscape was amazing.

Many colors and inspiration ~ lots of
ideas to take home to our garden plans.

I hope one day to have beautiful and
colorful perennials filling our space.

My favorite of the day ~ a hosta that
is the opposite of the one we have.
White with green edges instead of
green with white edges. Sweet!

We finished off our tour looking at
various kinds of rose bushes to add
to the plan. I love the soft greens of
this one. It has light pink rose petals.

Pale Pink Roses.

My favorite of all. I hope the small
rose bush we have will produce again
this year. I might even try to plant
more to have many shades of pink.

Tiny Rosebuds.

I bought this tiny rose tree at
the grocery store the other day.

It was on sale for just a couple of
dollars so I really couldn't resist.

The colors are my favorite and
the tiny rosebuds too endearing.

Watching them blossom each day
is so worth the small investment.

How could anyone resist these tiny
and so very sweet smelling rosebuds?

Tiny Rosebud.

Even though we haven't landscaped our
acreage yet, we are so fortunate to have a
lovely greenscape around the house. The
land we occupy is just 2 acres, with more
than half of that forest. On our walks, we
are seeing more and more tiny native plants
that are budding now that our days are sunny
and warm. I captured this tiny rosebud that
was just about to bloom in full. This is the
Alberta Wildrose, our province's flower. I
can't believe how much of it is spread all
over our tiny little piece of heaven.

Do you have native plants in your garden?
Do you have roses that bloom each Spring?
