Toasting August.

Today was worthy of a toast to welcome August. It's still too hot here, the smoke is a tiny bit better but the sky is very hazy, and my worry list is not longer, but still active. I have high hopes for August ~ a couple of birthdays to honor, our anniversary is this month, it's usually a bit cooler than July (we can only hope!), and towards the end of the month, we start to get ready for another year of classes beginning at the beginning of September. Some years, we go away for our anniversary but this year, we'll be home as we do have a trip all booked for our son's wedding in the Fall. After 2 full years with no travel, we are so excited to be jetting off for such a memorable occasion. It can't come fast enough.

On the 2nd day of this long weekend, we were woken up in the middle of the night with an unexpected power outage that silenced our house. The air conditioning was off but we run a fan on our system to keep the cool air circulating. It makes a slight hum that helps me sleep and when I woke up, I realized it was the silence that had jarred me awake. We ended up googling in the middle of the night to see how to get the system back up and running but had to wait until this morning to take it all apart and get it back in order. We knew if this didn't work, we'd have to call a heating company, so I'm very happy to share that we figured it out and tonight, the hum is present once again, and the house is nice and cool. We spent time tidying up and re~organizing our garage, which took several hours but so worth the effort. Then it was a quick trip down the lane to place our garbage bins for collection in the morning, along with our recycling. Our neighbor came down at the same time and we had a nice visit, even talking about the plans for the ice rink for this Winter. I can't imagine it ever being cold enough again to freeze a rink but know that we'll get there once again in a few short months. Once home, we tidied the cottage, finished the laundry, did a quick vacuum, showered and then it took us some time to make dinner together tonight. A new recipe to try and it was thankfully, a hit! We watched the last episode of Season 2 of "Succession" in preparation for the 3rd Season that will start sometime in the Fall. Crazy cliff hanger! It's going to be an early night after not sleeping well last night. Wish us luck that we won't have another outage! Enjoy your evening. Namaste to all.

August always sort of sneaks up on me. I hate knowing that summer is half over... it's a good thing I love the fall! Have a great week!

Lorrie, it finally rained this morning. Only for a short time but the sound and the fresh rain smell was heaven! It's foggy now so not sure if it took away the smoke but fingers crossed. We're also supposed to get rain at the end of the week for a solid 4 days. Bliss!!

Thanks Debi for your kind comments. I wish there was more Summer for sure but after all this heat and our gardens not doing well, I'm okay with Fall arriving early, as long as it stays late!

Have an amazing week.
