A Favorite Thing!

A couple of months ago, we were wandering the Antique Mall on a cool, rainy day, sipping warm hot chocolate, while searching for matching chests with drawers for beside our massive bed. Currently, we have mismatched white nightstands, while our bedroom furniture is a beautiful, warm walnut. We weren't successful that day but we did stumble across the cutest set of flowered grapevine wreaths hanging on a twig pole, with a metal scrolled handle. I loved the soft, green ribbons & had the perfect spot to hang it in our house already picked out as I held it in my hand.

But in the end, I put it down. The very hefty $28 price tag just seemed a bit much & we really needed to stick to the task at hand that day. Walking away I was fine but was already scheming how down the road, when my studio is finished, I could make the same item at a price that I was sure would be under $28. I did snap a quick pic with my phone so I would remember how it looked.

Imagine my surprise to be at the charity shop this week & finding this exact item, except it still had the store tag on it, without the original price. Brand new! I snapped it up, not quite believing my good fortune. And I'm so glad I put the one at the Antique Mall back that cool, rainy day, because on this day, the price for this coveted find was a mere .50 cents! Actually, it was a $1 but purple tags that day were 1/2 price. I would have happily paid $1 but hey, I like to follow the rules! If the sign says "purple tags 1/2 price today", I'll pay it. I'm not going to argue!! A sale is a sale & I'm happy to comply.

This is my contribution to Claudia's "A Favorite Thing" for the week. Take a peek at what everyone else has decided is their favorite.

Thank Dayle. We've had such good luck with our "treasure hunts" that I never worry anymore if I let an item go due to price or condition. Always seems to pop up down the road, if we're meant to have it.

P.S. Love your blog!!

I love your little hanger with three wreaths! And, how blessed you were to find it almost being given away!

Thank you Vicki. I do when things like this happen. I love that our treasures always have a story behind the name. Definitely a different impact than just popping into a story and buying something!

Your blog is great. Might have to try the watermelon martini's!

Thanks Claudia. Yes, it was a wise move. I would have not enjoyed seeing the second price if I had bought the original one. Ouch!
