I've been blogging for just a short time, less than 3 years & for 2 of those, I rarely blogged. I had a total of 70 posts over a 2 year period. Not good at all, considering many bloggers write a post each day or at least once a week. Not good at all, considering I read blogs every day, but I certainly did not contribute my fair share of news, thoughts, inspirations or commentary. I was almost embarrassed & at one point, thought of quitting, just slinking away, pretending I hadn't tried.
But I'm part Irish, making me part stubborn! I don't give up easily but sometimes take a little longer to get where I am planning on going. Driving home one day, beating myself up, I proposed a challenge. To write a total number of blog posts to match the number of days in the year. Which equates to 365 posts. However, to be kind to myself, I'm allowed to write a certain number of posts each week, instead of committing to one per day. If I do that, I'm allowed to read other bloggers each day or when I have time. Rewards, after I've done my part.
I've really enjoyed blogging so far this year. To date, I've written 150 blog posts in the span of 182 days, so I'm not far off. This month, with our holiday, I'll probably write more but not as much once I'm home as I have a week long day camp to run. Promised myself during that week & the second daycamp in August, I will come home & do nothing. Daycamp takes a lot out of me. The first week of September is the first week of school & again, I'll likely be missing in action. As long as I hit 365 (or more) by December 31st, I'll have reached my goal. And the guilt of reading without contributing will be gone.
So now I'm curious. And have a few questions for those blog readers who happen to stop in. Feel free to answer these in the comments section or send me an email. I'm so grateful for your time!
For those of you who have blogged
longer than I have, why do you blog?
When did you start?
Why did you start?
Do you have a goal in mind?
Have you met any of your readers
or blogs you frequent in real life?
How will you know it's time to stop blogging?
Thank you for contributing your responses to my queries. It's lovely to get to know you more!

I started in around 2007, and found that it opened up a new world for me. I like the connections with people. I have met one or two other bloggers, one of whom has become a dear friend.
I'm not sure when it will be time to stop, but every now and then i take a short break.
Thank you for your reply. I agree, it's a great way to connect. I haven't met anyone but when we travel to England in a few years, I'd love to stop in and say hi to one blogger who has asked me to. Could be fun!
I only just discovered your blog today, will be reading along :)
I started blogging in 2007.
I started because I was very isolated caring for my Dad and would be on the internet when I couldn't sleep, reading pf blogs.
My goal was to pay off our mortgage in five years.
I haven't met any bloggers in real life.
I did stop blogging for year when I had serious health issues & depression. I guess I'll stop when I no longer benefit from it anymore, but it helps me keep focused and I enjoy the online friendships I've made from blogging.
Thank you Louise for stopping in and leaving great responses to my questions. I'll be following your blog as well! I'm glad you came back after a break. Take care!
Great post and great questions! I'm going to address this in a blog post... :) I'll link you up!
Thanks Carla! I often wonder, as I read blogs, why bloggers have chosen to open up their lives, their thoughts, their hopes and fears to perfect strangers. I'd be interested to see what they have to say if you put it up on your blog as you have many followers and would get a greater number of responses for sure. Looking forward to seeing the link!! Take care.
I LOVE this post. Here's my guilty secret, I've been blogging for 15 years. That's almost half my life. I started at Diaryland when I was 18 to vent the teenage work/boyfriend stuff, then I developed as a person, had more boyfriends, met my husband, got pregnant, got married, had a baby, separated after years of "domestic violence" and being controlled. Again, I developed as a person, became a better person, became a better mother, started dating again, met my husband, had 2 more sons, moved house and remarried. Then since 2010 life has been rather level so I am now on blogger and intend to stay until I have no more journeys or adventures left to share. I've loved, I've lost, I've hated, I've cried, I've smouldered with hurt and frustration and had a health scare or two. But this blog is who I am! Who I've become through the tough times, what's made me strong and who I am today. A few times I've been tempted to stop but you know what? I actually enjoy this and I have made some lovely blog friends along the way. So that's me, feel free to drop by the blog and have a read. :)
Oh, I missed a bit, somewhere between the separating and remarrying I did get divorced just in case you were viewing me as a bigamist. ;)
