This year, for 2020, the year of the Pandemic, our Canada Day was very different. For years, we have either attended the festivities in our tiny hamlet OR we've volunteered our time at the site. The day is long but full of many fun activities, music, food, warm sun and visiting with friends and community members. It ends late in the evening with more music and then the best fireworks show in the region. It's a long show, with music and huge crowds that cheer and laugh. A good time is had by all. For days, the chatter around town is Canada Day. Good fun and many good memories!
But this year, everything was cancelled and of course, for good reason. There were still some great virtual activities and our neighbors lit some very loud fireworks. It was sad though to not be able to come together as a community. I'm so hopeful that next year, we'll have the biggest and best Canada Day party ever. Instead of taking the day to celebrate, we did a bit of gardening and I painted the dining room. We had an amazing dinner and watched a bit of tv. Not the most exciting day but one filled with gratitude still for our cozy cottage, our free country, our continued health and the best of all, our family. I hope all my Canadian blogging buddies had a wonderful, memorable day. Today, I wish my American blogging buddies a equally great day for the 4th. Stay safe, stay well and enjoy your patriotic day!
