The Crown III.

I've been waiting eagerly for the release of "The
Crown, Season Three" and finally had time today
to pull it up and watch the first episode. Love the
photo above and below from the first two seasons.

I felt the lead actors were natural choices to match
the appearances of both Queen Elizabeth and Prince
Philip. The new actors are amazing but it's taking
me a bit of time to accept their personal features.

I feel that the actress playing the Queen has more
of Princess Margaret in her. However, she's amazing
and I will in time find her endearing and stop the
comparison between the Princess and the actress.

But the actor playing Prince Philip .... that will take
a bit longer. The first actor, in my opinion, was spot
on. I wish they didn't have to change actors but the
story itself is the important feature, not appearance.

Today, we have woken up to dreary skies and a very strong, cold and noisy wind. Our only task to complete is finishing up the garage. Finally! Then the company we got the storage bin from can come and pick it up. This will free up the driveway once again. I've had the good fortune to be able to park in the garage in my bay since the flooring went down and once the bin is out of the way, then dh can park in his bay as well. That will leave just dd's car out on the, what will be,  quite a vast parking space for her! We didn't do a triple garage as the cost is high and dh really did want to have a workshop space for his tools and to refinish the amazing furniture and radios we've collected over the years. So we did an oversized garage. It works just fine for us, for now.

Once the garage is finished sorting, I plan to have a lovely soak in a warm tub, then I'd like to finish up our Christmas baking list. A load of laundry, a letter to write, Christmas cards to finish and if I have some time, I have an idea for gifts for my staff. Another busy Sunday here today!

What are your Sunday plans?
Have you started getting ready for Christmas?

Tired Little Guy.

This little guy came to work last week with gramma one day. It was November Break at school and for this one day, he needed to be with me. I'm used to him being so lively and talkative. But he was getting a cold and spent all morning, curled up in my counselling chair, quietly reading on his iPad. At lunch, he only ate half his pasta. It was really different from what we are used to seeing with our little guy. Around 2, not long before we were set to leave, he suddenly perked up, wandered around hospice entertaining my staff and even some clients. And had some cake (it was a birthday for a colleague) and then didn't want to go home. I thought all day it was just the cold coming on. But found out later that night that dh had given him some cold meds, on the instruction from his mama, the nurse! So that explained his groggy look, his inactivity and his reluctance to eat. And then the perkiness! Thankful the meds worked and he ended up with just a light cold. Very thankful his normally cheerful, energetic self is back. The quiet was ok but not for too long.

New Skirt.

Not for me though! For our Christmas tree,
that we bought brand new last Christmas.

Somewhere along the line, we've misplaced
our light green velvet tree skirt. I have all our
decorations organized in bins, so can't figure
out where it went. Truth be told, it was way
too small. So I'm not upset that a new skirt
was added to our budget this month. I looked
online and didn't find anything. I put a white
tablecloth under the tree until we could shop.

We went to HomeSense yesterday and came home
with two possibilities. This one was just perfect in
size and color, with just a wee bit of sparkle. I took
the tags off and it became our new tree skirt for 2019.

What do you put under your tree?
Any new decorations for your house this year?

Christmas Baking.

Today is the Eastern Final for football in Canada. Our team is one of the two playing and though I'm not a big fan, it's exciting to think we might have a chance at the Grey Cup (football's version of hockey's Stanley Cup). A sunny, warm day for football. The snow is currently melting off our roof and it sounds and looks like Spring. I'm sure in time, Winter will return and cover our landscape with  fluffy, white snow.

Dh brought me brekkie in bed ~ cranberry lemon muffin and juice. I've been reading blogs and enjoying the sun but it's time for a quick shower, comfy clothes for the day ahead and a trek downstairs to settle in for the game. While it's on, I'll be scouring my recipes to create our Christmas baking list for this season. I stumbled across this sweet picture of "teabag cookies" ~ there was no recipe and no reference so I'm going to have to dig. But aren't they sweet? As a tea lover, it's on top of my list. After the game is over, we'll head out to finish up more work on organizing the garage. This is a task we couldn't have done a year ago at this time of year. With the little furnace we had installed in October, we can now work out there, year round, in short sleeves. Toasty warm and a great place to now work on refinishing furniture and other projects. Excited to have this space almost completed. We've already got a list of projects.

Christmas baking girl ~ a favorite pic
of mine at this baking time of year.
She looks so happy to be helping. I
imagine her mother is off to the side.

After working in the garage, which will likely require a second shower, I've got a load of laundry to do, enjoy the dinner that dh has placed in the crockpot for the day, then we'll likely chill for the rest of the evening. We've started watching "The Kominsky Method" and an episode or two would be great. Picked up two books from the library yesterday, so those might get cracked open too. Relaxing night.

What's on your agenda today?
Do you have a Christmas Baking List?

The Stockings ....

.... were hung. And they are. Not on
our beautiful mantel above the fire ....

.... but on our desk in the great room,
where they are not in danger of falling
to the ground once they are full. We
used to hang them on the mantel at
our old house. The fireplace there was
old and a wood burner and we rarely
used it. But here with gas, it can be
on quite often and gets hot, so on to
the desk they go. I'm told St. Nick
will remember where they are hung.

Do you hang stockings?
If so, where do they go?

Inspiring Hope.

Borrowed from a social media site. Not mine but
the words are so comforting today. I had client
after client. Despite their personal grief journeys,
each is finding Hope. I had a heavy heart with all
the stories, the experiences but remembered that
even in the toughest journeys, there is still life
and love, family and friends, memories and the
stories. And best of all, there is inspiring Hope.

All is Calm ....

Tucked on to the couch together, watching the
hockey game, while the fog rolls around outside.
The end of our day and all is calm, all is bright.
A beautiful day, despite the grey, thick, cloudy sky.

End of the Day.

And it wasn't much better at the end
of the day. Tonight, we are now under
a Fog Advisory. I have to go back to
the City tomorrow. Hope it ends soon.

Love that our subdivision road has some
character to it. No straight lines here!
