About Me

In the Post.

I spotted this sweet little Halloween
card and just had to buy it for our little
granddaughter. She lives in the big city
beside us but I don't think we'll see her
before the big day, so we took a few
minutes out to send this along in the post.

Our grandson then decided to add in a
picture he drew for her. We'll likely do
a Skype session that night and I hope
this will have arrived in her mailbox.

Grocery Deals.

My quick stop at the store on Friday netted a
few items to fill up our fridge, freezer and the
veranda. Here's the breakdown of my little trip:

* 9 packages of boneless and skinless chicken
breasts ~ a bargain as chicken has just gone up
in price and these were $4.25 less per kg than
the new price. My quick calculation shows I
saved a very tidy $32. Love deals like this!

* a whole chicken to roast for Sunday dinner.

* a perfect head of lettuce that last week was
almost $4 but on Friday, the price was $1.69.

* a bag of whole organic mushrooms, on sale,
cheaper than the regular ones and in much
better shape and size. Organic does pay.

* a big block of marble cheese for $13.98 but
the store price was $8.99 and then the sale price
was $6.99. We love cheese and use lots so this
is an amazing price for something we will eat.

* my treat: a box of Frosted Cheerios. Regular
price was $4.98 but on Friday, $2.98.

* just 2 Mac apples. Not on sale but still so good.

* finally, 2 pumpkins for the veranda, on sale.

Grand total: $102. If everything was paid at
full price, I would have spent well over $160.
Worth the time to research sales and look for
in store deals as well. And it only took me
less than 20 minutes to do this shop. We had
milk in the fridge, a fresh block of butter, the
pantry is full and the freezer has some items
so we should be good for most of this week.

How is your pantry looking this fall?
Any good grocery deals you can share?

Magic from Nothing.

We came home the other night and realized we
hadn't figured out dinner. Nothing was defrosting
from the freezer, nothing was in the crock pot,
nothing was inspiring us. I was chilly and was
sent off for a hot bath. And when I came down,
this amazing dish was waiting for me .... bowtie
pasta with alfredo sauce, green peas and turkey. I
love having a dh who can make magic from nothing.

Fall Again.

After last weekend's snowfall, it was a
great start to our weekend with the return
of our warm and bright Fall weather. I
even sat out on our veranda in the sun.

The leaves that had fallen and then were
captured by the snow are every where.

Puddles on the road and a few leaves
still hanging about looked so pretty.

And the afternoon sun is going down earlier
each day. It still fills the music room, and
then cascades into the family room. But
it is definitely not as bright and warm.

Is beautiful Fall still present in your world?
Or has Winter arrived or just around the corner?

Supplementing.

Last month, we started Vitamin B12 shots
for my daughters and myself to increase
our daily energy. Each of us was depleted,
not an uncommon thing here in the North.
Dh "chickened out" of said shot but this
month, he jumped right in after we were
each amazed how much energy each of
us felt for an entire 28 days. Day 29, it
all went downhill and out came the shots
again. We'll see how well he does and if
it make a difference for him. He's a healthy
guy but busy and starting to feel the effects.

Our dear grandson has decided this is one
of his favorite days ~ he gets to put the tiny
bandaids on each of us. We really don't need
them as there is no blood to catch, but he insists.

Do you supplement your current
health with extra Vitamins?

A Week Ago ....

.... and our world was blanketed in white! A
storm that was predicated actually happened
and literally shut down everything until the
next morning. We came home just after lunch.

Here's our little cottage in the woods, buried
behind the trees and deep within the snow.

A deer came out, just after dinner, to look
for his own meal, now covered all up.

Wondering if he should venture into the
woods or continue to pluck from our yard.

Spotting us peeking out the windows.
We whisper when we see our deer!

Looking around at the hushed noises
from our house .... so close to us this time.

And finally, trekking back to the forest
to meet up with his little family. Nice visit.

Halloween Kitty.

We've had Kylo for just over a week now
and his mama broke down and bought this:

His first clothing item, just in time for next
week's Halloween events that will take place.

Before the Snow.

Found this on my phone today when I
was searching for another picture. It was
just a few days before our snow, which
is all gone now, fell. A warm and sunny
day. Today, we're right back to this
place and I'm excited we're getting a
nice reprieve from Winter, especially
considering it's still Fall. Definitely a
"t~shirt and sit out on the front veranda"
kind of day. More to come over the
week. Thankful for this gift. Maybe,
just maybe, that was our only snow ....

How's the weather for you on this
very beautiful Friday afternoon?
