About Me

Late Summer.

Not quite ready for Fall decorations just
yet. I'm hanging on to the Summer we
truly didn't get but have tiny glimpses of
here and there. Hanging on as best I can!

Happy with our decision to mulch the flower
beds. Now we won't have to weed every day!

A lamp early in the morning to warm me
once I've come back home after dropping
kids off. There is something about pulling
up to our home with a light on that just
puts cozy memories in to my heart and
head. A warm welcome home every time.

Everything's New.

New school year, new school, new haircut and
best of all, a new playground with the tallest slide!

It's been a mix of a great week for our little guy
and a hard week as he tries to fit in. He'll do it!!

RENT on Stage.

We've spent a great deal of time working in
our local theatre community. Such a fun life!

But it's so nice to have productions come
to town that we can kick back and enjoy.

RENT has been on my list for a while and dh
surprised us with season tickets this year and
RENT was one of the productions on the year
long line up. Great seats and great shows!

We arrived nice and early and were able to look
at the merch, read the program and have a drink.

No curtain, which was fun as we watched the
amazing band settle in and get ready for the show.

"Curtain Call" with no curtain! Such a great cast
and their voices were brilliant. Very impressed.

Now I want to watch the movie again and decide
which I like better. In the end, it will likely be both!

Spoiled Plants.

I do sometimes spoil my plants just a
bit. This new addition to our "jungle"
needed some extra sun. So I pulled out
the tiny footstool and balanced the pot.

It seems to have worked well as the leaves
are standing just a bit taller and the green
has returned to this little pot. Anything to
keep my sweet little spoiled plants happy!

Good Day.

Doesn't it just make you smile to see
a greeting like this on your cold drink?
And yes, it was a good day and this
was a lovely treat from dd to celebrate!

Nook Corner.

I have so many favorite spots in our house but this one is new to me, now that we have our shutters installed. I was hoping we'd like the classic look of wood shutters but had no idea I'd fall in in love with them. Now we're waiting for the family room units to be put in. Then we'll sit with these for the Winter (and save) and make a decision if we want to add them to more windows throughout the house. The small wreath we found at the charity shop for $1. I was going to hang it on the front door but then threw it up on the shutters and now I want to find one for each window!

The quilted pillow was a find from the Antique Mall a few years ago. One of my favorite booths had a little sale and I scored this treasure. The tiny plant was a gift from my dh in the Spring. A surprise one cold and snowy day. Still blooming and still tiny but so very sweet. I love it!

An antique shelf I painted to match the kitchen cabinets. A $10 find at the charity shop years ago. I featured it often in my blog posts when we still lived in our other house. It sat for a bit in our storage room and then one day, I grabbed it to hang in the art studio, after it was to be painted of course. But it never left the kitchen and somehow found it's way to our nook. The arched frame was a Michael's "buy one, get one free" sale. I found this and another item for the new house. I love the plant has been slowly creeping up the frame, almost overtaking it. A few vintage pots and some postcards with sweet memories on the back. It really is a lovely corner to sit and view outside. Or have a snack. Or take care of my plants. Or decorate through the seasons.

Do you have a nook corner?
Or a favorite spot in your house?

Our Weekend.

It was pretty laid back. The weather was rainy, windy and cold from Friday until this morning. Then today, it started out feeling like Winter and ended up with Summer .... finally!! I actually have a sunburn from today and am feeling a bit under the weather tonight but truly didn't want to move out of the sun all day long. It was great to have sun!

Friday was a work day but also deck day. Love our new extension and can't wait to stain next Spring. The cedar smells heavenly and reminds me of my childhood and also the time we spent living on the West Coast. We relaxed that evening and did some planning but no work. Saturday was a work day and then we spent some time at the preschool trying to finish up the last few items on the to do list. A couple of things we couldn't do, so we came back on Sunday and finally finished. Came home to make a big pot of chili with fresh buns and just chilled the rest of the day and evening. Watched a few episodes of "Escape to the Country" and that was it for the day. Today we woke up to a big storm, then headed into the City to work a shift at the Antique Mall. Big boot sale, so it was super busy. Tidied our booth, visited the sale, grabbed a hot chocolate, worked and then came home. I had a nap while dh watched the annual Labor Day Football game on tv. Our team lost unfortunately. Had a lovely dinner, watched a movie, did some work for preschool for tomorrow and now it's off to bed. Not a super exciting weekend but it was nice to just putter, do a few things at the preschool and spend some time in the garden enjoying the new deck. No pressure ~ nice and relaxed.

How was your long weekend?
Did you relax or get lots done?

September.

I love Fall but wish we could have had Summer first this year. It has rained since late Spring and just continues to pour. Our deck guys even built the extension on Friday .... in the freaking rain! Today, it's foggy and rainy, so I chose this picture to show what we're dealing with again today. I love the rain. It makes me want to cozy up with my favorite cup of tea, and a warm blanket to write, or nap, or watch a show. But it would have been nice to have some hot days to complain about, maybe a bit of a tan, and a veggie garden that did well instead of not producing much because the ground was too soaked. Next year, they say!

This September brings the last boot sale of the year at the Antique Mall tomorrow, the first day of school on Tuesday for our 2 grandbabies (grades 1 and 3), the trek in to the City on Friday to see "Rent" at the theatre, the Annual Dollhouse Show on the 15th, our baby walk on the 22nd and lots of group work starting in between all those dates. Definitely, a busy month. We also start to get ready for Winter around the house, before the snow arrives.

On this cool foggy and rainy Sunday morning, we're off to the preschool to paint the play kitchen and install new knobs on the new cabinets that were installed this Summer during our renos. Then a bit of shopping and home for the rest of the day. Dinner to crock pot first, and some laundry later today will keep me busy for a bit. Hoping to put the fire on as well and curl up with a letter to write and a book to finish. Happy September 1st wherever you are today!

What are your plans on this 1st day of September?
Is it a cool Fall day where you live or hot and sunny?
