About Me

The Night Before ....

After settling in to our grand hotel, we
had lunch at our favorite Irish pub, did
a bit of shopping and then indulged in a
quick swim in the cool pool and a warm
soak in the hot tub. After showering, it
was our time to get ready for the "night
before the wedding" family dinner. We
headed off to a sweet Italian restaurant
and met up with our son and daughter
in law to be, and her parents and family.
It was a great night, with amazing food,
laughs and new memories. We left with
full bellies, aching sides and smilies on
our faces. Home to the hotel and long
sleeps to be ready for the wedding. It
was a relaxed dinner the night before.

Election Night.

Last night was a late night in our cozy little cottage as we watched the tv and kept refreshing the websites that were tracking the results from our 44th National Election here in Canada. The election was just called on August 15, 2021 and we went to the polls on September 20, 2021. It was not a lot of time and at the end of the day, a whole lot did not change. I'm not sure why the election was called when our current Prime Minister decided, in the middle of a Pandemic, and half way thru his current term, to suddenly call a "snap election." Why?? We'll never know but we all voted, nothing really changed and today, that election cost over $600,000 million. So disappointed in this current government. And hope when we go back to the polls AGAIN in 18 months that there will be a change .... we truly need new direction.

Falling Behind ....

It's been a crazy, busy, I can't quite keep up kind of
week and I'm falling behind in my posts, my art and
my journaling. These are things that should be at the
top of the list for priorities but sometimes, they fall
to the side because family members need all of me,
residents and their circle of friends and family need
me at hospice, my staff needs me and this all means
the parts of life that I need to stay focused and even
grounded slip away. Ironically, I need those more all
the time with this busy life. I'm getting back on track
and hope to be back to daily posting over the next
week. For today, two sweet shots of blossoms from
our now gone flowers from our deck. I'm so sad our
blooms have died but am loving the colors we have
this Fall. And look forward to next season's blooms!
Are your flowers all gone too? Is Fall in bloom too?

The First Day.

Leaving on a jet plane to our son's
wedding and our holiday after at the
beginning of September. We traveled
with our dd and dgs to the coast. It
was such a great trip. And as always,
we started with "Cookies by George."

A concert to watch by the great
Ed Sheeran. Not a long flight at all.

The mama and the papa, excited to be
on board, with a not happy dgs glaring!

He doesn't like to be left out of photos.
He is a true actor/model from the start.

We ended up in preferred seating. A
really good experience with this airline.

Loved being on a new plane that was
so spacious and very, very comfortable.

Vancouver before we hit the runway.
So excited to see the ocean in the back.

And then we had to get on this tiny jet
to fly over to our little island. Not as
spacious, very little room and no service
but it's only a 12 minute flight. Fun!

Finally .... Married!

I have tons of catching up to do. Since
the beginning of September, we've been
on the coast, celebrating our eldest son's
wedding. I'm so very behind on posts
but promise to catch up asap. There are
so many things I can't wait to share ....

Goodbye August.

On the last day of August, it's been very
cloudy, rainy and windy. Not the best
end to a good month but one we need
for the rain. So much cooler now and I
am loving the sound of the rain on the
roof. It's supposed to rain tomorrow as
well. We're starting to see some yellow
and orange leaves. Fall is definitely in
the air. My favorite season and I'm very
hopeful it will be a long one this year.

Love Journaling.

We've been married a long time (37 years) and together even longer (40 years). I love being in a relationship where we both try to always look for new ways to stay connected.  Recently dh suggested we write to each other every night, at the end of a busy day, to share our thoughts on the day but more importantly to write out our dreams and goals for now and the future. We used to write letters to each other and then life got busy with kids and careers. I love this idea and we haven't missed a single day since we started back in July. We went on a little shopping trip and picked out our own journals. And now every night, before we crawl in to our cozy bed, we write. It's worked so well and when we go off our little trip, the first things packed will be our journals. Do you and your lovey write notes or letters to each other? Or are you a journal writer for yourself to capture your life?

Pyjama Buddy.

After a long day of landscaping last
week, we all took showers but two of
us decided it didn't make sense to get
fully dressed again. So, into pj's it was!
