Blogtober: Day 8.

And the winner is ....

Yes, I've decided to go with this office space. I love
the quirky wall juts and the ceiling that slopes. The
art work speaks to me and the cabinet to store all of
my grief materials is lovely. We're now searching for
a smaller desk to fit in here as I don't want space to be
eaten up by a piece of furniture that is functional but
too big. I may swap out the couch and chairs with the
other counselling room just to soften it a bit but they
may grow on me. The one thing that has to go is the
basket of sunflowers. Sweet and they are the symbol
for hospice. But not my style! I'll make this space my
own and happy to finally get settled in this quiet spot.

Today is our day off but it's not going to really be that.
Our contractor is coming over to spread the load of
gravel that will arrive this morning for our patio space
we're creating coming off the big deck. Once he has
the gravel spread out, he'll then measure and measure
and fill in gaps and measure and then tamp it all down.
Then he'll spread the sand that will arrive today as well
and more measuring and tamping and hopefully if all
goes well, by the end of the day, we'll have a sturdy,
level spot to begin to lay down all the bricks we have
lined up on pallets on the driveway. So excited to get
this project done before the snow arrives. He's also
going to smooth out our front walk so that water does
not pool anymore if it rains for 3 days ~ rare but it does
happen a few times each Summer. Then he'll create a
little dry river bed for us for our sump pump. And his
last task will be to regrade and smooth out our drive.
Not sure those last two things will happen this weekend
but he's pretty fast, so we'll see how it goes. He's lovely
so far and we hope to use him in the future as we need
things down around here that don't fit in our capacity.
I like having trades we can both trust and call as needed.

It's Thanksgiving this weekend here in sunny Canada.
Looking forward to a lovely time and lots of turkey!

Blogtober: Day 7.

A cold, frosty October morning and this made the fog
appear, which made driving interesting in a few spots.
Down in the river valley, with the mist from the river,
there was thick fog that made every one drive super
slow. I love mornings like this. Makes me thing of the
moors in England and old movies. A beautiful sight!

Blogtober: Day 6.

I still have to write about the wedding. It's hard
to believe a short month ago, we were out at the
sea, watching our eldest son marry his love. And
now they are on their tropical honeymoon, having
a great time together! A funny photo for today. My
shoe kept getting stuck in the long grass at the site.
High heels and grass don't mix well but did make
for a great photo on the big wedding day. Enjoy!

Blogtober: Day 5.

A shot of the sweet and tiny vintage
pot on our kitchen table. The purple
blooms fit with our color palate. And
the little ruffles just add to the vision.

Blogtober: Day 4.

A beautiful but chilly Monday morning. I'm home from work, trying to still recover from this nasty virus. I was able to get in to the clinic yesterday. Three Covid tests in the last week and all negative ~ so very relieved as it was scary having symptoms that are so close to the beginnings of what many have experienced. Thankful and blessed today that as awful as I feel, it's just a virus ~ a bit of fluid in my chest, ear infections and swollen lymph nodes, fever and I hurt everywhere. But NO Covid! Now I'm on a steriods to get things under control. Fingers crossed this works well soon.

Isn't that the prettiest sight ~ sun in the cottage. I posted a similar photo the other day but this one is even better. I'll never get tired of this view. One of my favorites each day.

By accident, I let a wasp in to the cottage this morning. It ended up tangling itself up in the lace curtains. The buzzing was starting to get to me and as allergic as I am, it had to go. I wrapped the lace around and around, until it was nice and stuck. I was going to leave it like that until dh got home but was worried I would not relax the rest of the day, thinking it would escape. So I did the only thing I could .... whacked it with my phone. I'm pretty sure he/she/it is dead now! Kind of proud of myself for taking care of a not so great situation. Now I can resume my perch on the couch, in my blankies, working on work stuff so I don't get behind.

How is your day going?
Is it sunny where you live?

Blogtober: Day 3.

Isn't this an amazing vintage cabinet? It's just
what I've been looking for but unfortunately,
the buyer did not contact me after I asked as
soon as it was posted. The following day, the
buyer pulled it down. I never heard back. My
little heart was broken but I'll keep looking.

This is what I'm hoping to do. A vintage cabinet
with character, painted a light, airy pink shade.

This color I love. But the cabinet is
too bulky for what I'm looking for.

This one is amazing. I hope in my travels one
comes my way and I can work on this project.
A spot for my teacups, a place for tea pots, and
a lovely piece to restore and love in our cottage.

Do you have a project in mind for the future?

Blogtober: Day 2.

After 18 months of avoiding illness and feeling so lucky to not be touched by Covid, I had a little scare this past week when I became quite ill with a nasty chest cold. I've been home all week, cuddled up to get better and thankful that the two rapid tests I was able to take (last Saturday and then Tuesday) were both negative. But I kept getting worse, so tried to get a doctor's appointment. Our family doctor and our naturopath were both booked up for the next two weeks. I was encouraged to call in each morning but was worried I was getting bronchitis or pneumonia. So off to an open clinic we went on Friday. They told me they couldn't see me until I had a Covid test done by the Provincial Medical system, so I had to book a test. Thankful to get in that afternoon for a test, which literally took 2 minutes. Today, I got a text confirming that I'm still negative, so off to the doctor for a 1:00 pm appointment tomorrow. I hope that it's not more than a cold but if it is, that I can get some antibiotics so I can heal and get back to life. If Covid wasn't part of daily life right now, I would not be worried. But it's hard not to go to that place when our numbers are so high and deaths are happening, even in people who have been double vaccinated. It's been an insightful week for sure. Wish me luck tomorrow when the doctor sorts out my nasty cold and gets me on the mend

Do you love my photo of my lunch the other day?
Everyone was at work and I was too tired to make
any kind of decent lunch. So I opened up my bag
of popcorn and filled my bowl. Yummy and fast!

Hope you are well.

Blogtober: Day 1.

It's back! Last year, I participated in my very first
"Blogtober" and am excited to be back for 2021. A
simple process to write 1 blog post each day for the
month. I look forward to writing each day for October.

Have you participated in challenges before?
Or even written each day for Blogtober?
