Summer arrived on time this year but truthfully,
it was an odd one that wasn't exactly wonderful.
We had moments where we'd think "yes, it's back"
and then the rain would come for days. Or the smoke.
Capturing photos when I could to show the progress
in our landscaping journey. There is not a lot of photos.
We did cherish the few warm and sunny days we did
manage to get and mourned the loss of each day that
wasn't great. The smoke from the fires in B.C. made
some of those warm and sunny days unbearable with
the thickness of the air. We spent those days in the
house, working on other projects and hoped it would
not last long so we could get back to our gardens.
We managed to create and then grown veggies in
fenced in patch. And grow some flowers but for the
most part, it wasn't a great growing season either. I
truly hope next Summer is better and much longer.
For our veggie patch, our gardens and our bodies.
Just as we hoped that we would have a nice long and
warm Fall, with colorful trees and crunchy paths, just
as we prepared for Thanksgiving and filled our fridges,
our pantries and tied our veranda, porch, garage and
the little potting shed, just as we started to get excited
about being cozy in our little cottage, we woke to this ....
.... yes, that is fluffy snow AGAIN! We had a few days in
September but thought we were all done with early snow.
Ugh. No pretty Fall pictures from our Little House
in the Big Woods. This will melt quickly but still ....
It's hard to feel Fallish when all we can see is white out
our front door! And back door! And on the potting shed!
Have you had a beautiful Fall so far?
Any snow in your regions just yet?

I feel the same way ( even though we don't have any snow). After a hot, dry, and smoky summer we went straight to rain. Since rain is what we get all winter it feels like we skipped Fall.
Wow. That's amazing. I am in Southern California and it is still very warm here. We don't really get four seasons, though. I'm sorry to hear that you had so few days that were warm and sunny. That must be a challenge. We are very spoiled with the weather in California. It's actually easier to garden at this time of year. Our summers are extremely hot and dry. I'm harvesting zucchini and the citrus will be ready once it gets colder. Sunflowers, geraniums, and zinnias are still blooming. I wish I could send you some!
We have had no fall yet. In fact I am still swimming daily but it is supposed to start cooling mid week. Personally I would love another week or 2 in the high 80's or 90's.
Your snow is beautiful even if it is a little early.
I think much of Canada has skipped Fall this year, Granny! At least we didn't the snow that Calgary got. Ours is very minor and melting. X Chy
I bet it would be hard to grow veggie patches in the Summer in California. I'm glad though you can still have another season to give your gardens a good growing time. X Chy
Anne, I hope it does cool for you soon. X Chy
