Christmas Eve.

This sounds like the best way to spend Christmas
Eve. We usually treat ourselves to delivered food,
the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" and maybe a game.
As avid book lovers, this would be a great addition.

How do you spend Christmas Eve?
Would you adopt this tradition?

Christmas Baking.

Planning out our final Christmas Baking
List ~ can't wait to try all these recipes.

We always make both sugar and
shortbread cookies each year. I'm
getting better at decorating them ~
definitely have to keep practicing.

These Christmas lights are too sweet.
Might try these out for the kitchen tree.

Gingerbread with white chocolate
and tiny sprigs of berries and leaves.

I haven't done these Stained Glass
Cookies for years but might try them
again this year. The trick is to not
make them too thin and to find the
right candies that will melt well. I
hope they turn out and are eaten up!

I wish I could decorate like this! So
much detail. Maybe one day I will.

In addition to the cookies we love to
bake and eat at Christmas, we'll also
be making sweet Butterscotch Confetti,
Mini Cheesecakes, Butter Tarts, my
Nanaimo Bar, and a Neapolitan Bar. All
really easy to make and so good to eat.

Do you spend time baking at Christmas?
If you do, what do you like to create?

Re-Potting.

Not Christmas related but too cute to pass up!
I'm loving our white landscape at the moment
but also already dreaming of gardening in 2020.
I hope we have less rain and more sun this year.

Illuminated Boy.

He wanted to watch a video after dinner.
But all the plugs were either in use or
hidden behind a piece of furniture. So
our little guy had to get a bit creative.

He discovered the Christmas tree only
takes one plug, leaving one open. He
tucked himself in beside the tree and
watched his video. I love how it made
his face illuminate. Can't remember
what he was watching but it was quiet!

Today we're off to town. I have to work,
dd2 has a bake sale at our preschool and
dh and dd1 have a bit of shopping to
finish up. Looking forward to our trek
in with new fallen snow. But am really
looking forward to coming back home.

What's on your agenda on this snowy day?
Do you like going out or coming home?

Beatrix Potter.

I captured this Beatrix Potter print from another blog a while ago. It's a vintage print, and it's hard to read but it says "A Happy Christmas to You" ~ a sweet sentiment for this season. I collect old postcards and I wonder if this was made in to a card. I'll have to keep a look out in my travels.

The world Beatrix Potter created with her words and her art has always fascinated me. I played one of Peter Rabbit's sisters in a kindergarten play, my first voyage up on to the big stage .... if my memory is correct, I was tiny Cottontail. From there, I had a love for the imaginary setting and story. When we were having our first baby, our first daughter, by chance, I found a beautiful calendar to record all her firsts in her first year of life. And it was a Beatrix Potter item. From there, we added in bits and pieces as we found stuffed animals and books to create a little nursery. I've kept some of the special items and books and they now grace the bookcase in our guest bedroom and in a couple of key spots in our home. I love cute and small things. Tiny rabbits, beautiful art and sweet words, with soft colors ~ love it all.

Today I'm counselling grieving individuals and families, I have a student eval with her coordinator, then I'm heading back to our satellite office in my community to meet a new family. Home after that, to the cozy little cottage in the big woods to bake cookies for an event and spend time with my family. What are your plans for today? Busy or quiet?

Tiny Deer.

He guards the Christmas Tree room
each day, keeping any predators away.
Our tiny gold deer is faithful and a
bit menacing as he stands his ground.

Special Night.

More pictures from our Annual Candle Lighting.
We light 4 candles: Memory, Love, Peace, Hope.

After the lighting of the Candle of Life, we then
invite families up to light their baby(ies)/child's
candle. Last night, we lit 52 candles. So sad to
have so many precious children be so missed.

My Chapter partner who is amazing and full of
bright and positive energy and always gives me
hope that we can all get through this experience.
Now we rest and take a good break until January.

Does your community hold Christmas
Candle Light events for Mourners?
